Hi...
I want to know which would be better.

Round diamond

Center DIamond: 1.31 ct H Color SI2 clarity

or

Center Diamond: 1.20 ct G Color SI2 Clarity

Which diamond would be better and would I notice a difference in size or color of the diamond?

Hi there and welcome!

Not enough info I am afraid, can you post the proportions for each diamond please so we can get an idea for which is the best cut. Have you seen these diamonds in person to verify they are eyeclean or are they with an online vendor?

We need the -

Type of lab report, GIA etc
depth%
table%
crown angle
pavilion angle
girdle thickness
polish and symmetry
diameter measurement
fluorescence if applicable

Post the above then we can go from there.

Thanks for the reply.. Dang.. never knew so much went into selecting a diamond. I''m really not sure.. Its an online jeweler. Onassis Jewelry.. I actually haven''t seen the actual diamonds. They are both GIA and I think the cut is around 61% if that helps. The reason I am asking. I ordered the 1.20 ct G Color SI2 with a setting of .8ct 18k white gold, H color SI2 clarity. I was planning on ordering the 1.31 ct H color SI2 but it was sold. They had the 1.2ct listed a little more expensive because of the color I guess. I ordered it yesterday and the guy that owns the company said he was overnighting the ring and I should receive it today. So there wouldn''t be a way to say if I would notice the difference until I get all of the information.

Hansokl-

Hi, and welcome to Pricescope! To answer your question directly, most likely, no, you will not be able to tell the difference between G and H. Some people can tell a difference across 2 color grades, so G to I for instance, if they are next to each other, but most cannot tell between G and H, even if they are next to each other.

The reason Lorelei asked for all the info is because it is the cut that makes a diamond sparkle. The cut is by far the most important factor in determining performance. If a diamond is well cut, it can mask the color and make the stone look very white. However, if it is a poor cut, the color and inclusions may be somewhat easier to see.

The number you gave of 61% is either the depth % or table %, but I'm not sure which. All of those numbers should be on the GIA report. If you give us the numbers, we can tell you if you have a well cut diamond or not.

I'm also not sure what you mean when you say 0.8ct 18kt white gold? Does that mean that there is 0.8ct of diamonds on the setting? Is it a channel set or eternity band? Perhaps a picture or link would help visualize it. Also, please post pictures of the ring when you get it. I'm sure it is gorgeous!

Thanks so much for your reply. I will provide the details as soon as I get the paperwork. The website is flash so I can''t give you a direct link but I can tell you where to go to see the setting. Yes the setting has .8ct down the side of it. The setting diamond quality is H color and SI1 clarity. Would the 1.2 be noticable from 1.31? And do you think the diamond would look good on the setting. I want the diamond to look big enough and not be over powered by the .8ct on the setting.

Let me know what you think..
Thanks again

My computer is giving me problems, so I can''t load the page with the ring on it, but my guess is that no, a 1.2 or 1.3 would not be over powered by 0.8ct of smaller stones. Unless the two stones are right next to each other, you won''t be able to tell a difference between a 1.2 and 1.3. That is a very small change in diameter. The diamond will definitely look big enough. If you can, maybe save a picture of it and post it here. That would help a lot in answering your question better.

How do I post a picture on here.. I tried to go to the picture gallery but it wouldnt let me..

I can't get the file to load for some reason to see the pic.

But if you have the pic, save it to your computer, open the reply box for this thread, click attach file top left hand side of the reply box. Click on your pic and rename the file otherwise it won't load and name it something unusual, then click upload, with luck it should attach and you will see it on your completed post.

It wont let me attach the file under here or paste the link to photobucket or put the html text

there it is

Yeah.. I actually missed the delivery because it was delivered at 8am this morning.. Going to the fedex facility to pick it up this afternoon at 5. Without having the diamond details yet.. Will the 1.2 ct stone look ok with the setting. I dont want the center stone to look too small. I was actually ordering the 1.31 H SI2 but found out it was sold.. so I got the 1.2ct G SI2
