Choose?

I'm looking at the following diamonds and I am intentionally leaving out some information. They are both ideal cuts and I'm satisfied with the idealscopes and H&A patterns of both.

The choices are:

1.5 ct I color SI1 clarity

or

1.5 ct G color SI2 clarity

Cost is essentially the same. I am told the SI2 is eyeclean though it obviously has more inclusions and personally I am somewhat suprised that it is eyeclean based on the AGS report.

Which would you choose?

I would go with the G SI2 - I would prefer higher color even if it meant a visible inclusion.

Depends on how colourless you want your stone to be. I am perfectly fine with I but since both are eye-clean and same price, G it is then.

I would go with the G if eyeclean. One cannot go by plots or pictures, they aren''t representitive of what the stone looks like in real life. Don''t let the plot scare you. Just make sure you and the jeweler are on the same page as far as what eyeclean means.

Hello tunis,

I was faced with this exact situation. I was choosing between two stones an I SI1 and a G SI2, both about the same size and the price difference was not significant. Additionally, both were eyeclean from both the sides and top from 3-5 inches and 8-10 inches. Although the vendor stated that both face up very white; I decided to go with the lower color G SI2 instead of the I SI1. I don''t think you can go wrong as long as you have a conversation with the vendor, which will determine if the color difference is significant since both are eyeclean to your standards.

Hope this helps!

I wouldn''t be able to choose without knowing what the intentionally left out info was, I''d have to know ALL the details. But since it''s not my purchase, I''d go with the I, because I would usually choose clarity over color. Either way though you''ll have something beautiful

Assuming all other information is the same I''d go for the eyeclean G. You CAN see color, but if a stone is eyeclean you CAN''T see inclusions. So I''d rather have something I can see for my $.
