Since it's more money than the first stone you posted, I'd forego the blingy band and halo setting and just do a simple solitaire with a plain band. Very classy and elegant. Then later on down the road if you wanted to halo it or go for a three stone, you'd have a beautifully cut stone to start with.

I would not personally go with an E color stone if money were an issue. I'd drop to G or H and get a larger solitaire stone. Just my two cents!

that stone is beautiful

however, I have large size 8 hands :/ that's why the halo suited me.. plus I have a 20k budget for both so was trying to get some show stoppers

It is possible to stretch a budget to get as much bling for the buck as you can and I certainly understand that. However, you can never go wrong with a well cut stone in the G-H, VS range that is the building block for your final finished piece. Having it all at the outset is not always possible and I'd be very leary of spending more money on a blingy setting instead of a well cut diamond. Intricate settings such as halos usually will not accommodate a larger stone down the road. Find a vendor with a great trade in policy as well so that if you ever want to upgrade the stone, it will be easy and less financially painful.

The E color stone you posted is lovely but if size is your main criteria, I would much rather spend the money on the G/H/I color range and get a larger stone for the same price.

Are you talking about the brian gavin stone? the james allen one is 1.3 carats.. it's pretty sizable.

The halo will be around 13mm I think it will look large on my finger but I do see your point and I am warming up to the idea of a solitaire

No, I was actually referring to the Brian Gavin stone. I see that all three you picked are E color. Is there a specific reason for that color? My thoughts were that you could go up to the G-H color range and get a larger stone for your money.
