I'm considering three stones and could use some feedback. GIA Reports attached. Which would you choose? I plan to put it in a platinum setting with tapered baguettes on either side (.2 carats each). Thanks.
The only one of these I would consider is the last one. Most people don't want to download attachments so I would upload each report as an image. Do you have pics of each stone? That would also help. The last stone is the only one that falls into the recommended ranges for table, depth, crown, and pavillion, though some would argue that the last one has a table that is larger than preferred at 59.
You should run any stones you are considering through the HCA tool (under "tools" at the top of the screen). Anything that comes back with a score of above 2 shouldn't be considered, whereas stones with scores under 2 should be considered (sometimes stones with a score of 2.5 can be considered with enough info). That will help weed out stones that have angles that aren't complimentary.
In general, stick to the following:
Table: 54-58
Depth: 60-62.4
Crown: 34-35 (35.5 can be ok if pavillion is 40.6)
Pavillion: 40.6-40.8 (40.9 or even 41 can sometimes be ok if crown is 34)
Yes, I did and this stone comes back with a favorable rating. Depending on what it looks like, I'm thinking of buying it unless there is something obvious that I'm missing on the report! Thank you for the knowledge feedback from other Pricescope experts!
