Which DBTY should I get for my 30th?

It's happening...I'm turning 30. :shifty:

I've never been one to pick out my gifts, but this year I want something special. I have decided on something from Tiffany's DBTY line (my first piece of Tiffany jewelry, as well). I have it narrowed down to either a 3-diamond bracelet or a solitaire pendant, but I need help making my final decision!

If I get the bracelet, I am almost positive I will go with the 3-diamond platinum option.I wear a mix of metals, but I have a platinum ring that I wear almost every day (and my watch is mainly silver-tone with gold accents). I also like the 5-diamond and 6-diamond styles, but those are far out of our price range right now.

In regards to the necklace, the comparable options (price-wise) are either the .14 ct solitaire in platinum or the .19 ct solitaire in yellow gold. I wear a mix of metals in terms of earrings - everyday diamond studs are yellow gold, my nicer studs are white gold. So, either metal color is an option (I also own a few two-tone pieces and don't mind mixing metals). I have also toyed with the idea of the 3-diamond necklace, but think I like the solitaire better as an everyday piece.

What do you ladies (and gentlemen) think I should get?

HI:

Welcome!

Did you try the rose gold DBTY at Tiffany? I found the rose gold preferable to the yellow gold and ended up buying the rose gold in the single stone. That said, if I were to buy a DBTY in a bracelet, I would buy a white metal.

Were you planning on wearing the bracelet with a watch? I ask, because I found the bracelets delicate.

cheers--Sharon

Thanks! I love rose gold - but with my reddish hair and the pink undertones in my skin, rose gold does not love me back. I'm also not crazy about the thicker bezels on the rose gold pendants.

I will be wearing the bracelet on my right arm, I wear my watch on my left. I generally wear the platinum ring on my right hand, as well. I also already have a yellow gold diamond bracelet that I sometimes stack with my watch, which is another reason I would most likely get the DBTY bracelet in platinum.

My husband bought me the sterling silver solitaire necklace a while back, and although I absolutely loved it, it was too much upkeep with the polishing (it would turn black almost immediately). I went back to Tiffany's with the intention of upgrading to platinum, but I found the platinum very dull in comparison, and the bezel was much larger and not as delicate looking. I ended up returning it entirely. I wish they did the DBTY in white gold! So my vote would be for the necklace in yellow gold :).

Thanks, tmot14! I'm leaning toward yellow gold for the necklace as well. I just love how the diamond looks set in gold.

And Snowdrop13, thanks for the suggestion! Another of my issues is that I have been debating over Tiffany vs "something else." I'm normally not a brand snob, but for some reason in this case I just really feel like I want the Tiffany bracelet. I used to work for a large-chain retail jeweler, and I feel as if I have a jewelry box full of "generic mall jewelry." I guess I'm just itching for a designer piece...I know I could get a larger bracelet elsewhere for the same price, I just feel as if I wouldn't be as happy with it. Stupid, I know.

That being said, the Whiteflash yellow gold bracelet with the white bezels is gorgeous. If I end up going with the Tiffany pendant, that bracelet is going on my Christmas list (who am I kidding - if I get the Tiffany bracelet, that Whiteflash yellow gold bracelet is still going on my Christmas list)!

I own a custom Whiteflash DBTY bracelet w/ 15pts and I love it! You should definitely look into getting one in the future!

If the three-stone that you're looking at is approx the same price as the 0.14 single stone set in platinum, then I think it must be this one?

If so, be aware that the stones are just 0.05 ctw each, which is minuscule, and hardly wider than the chain.

If you really want Tiffany (and I completely understand that urge) then I think you'll be much happier with the 0.14 necklace in plat or the 0.19 YG.

I briefly owned the 0.14 in plat and after a short while I found it too small so I returned it. I got something a little bigger elsewhere. However, I have to say that the platinum single stone was very elegant.

Anyway, I vote for one of the single stone pieces because the 0.05 stones will barely show up at all. Just my opinion! :wavey:

Just wanted to mention to the poster above regarding platinum not being as shiny as white gold, when I had my DBTY made by WF, I had my platinum rhodium plated so it would be less dull. I love Tiffany jewelry but I decided to use WF for DBTY pieces because I could get so much more for the money in equal or better quality.

Are you definitely set on the Tiffany piece? I'm always about getting as much bling as possible for the budget and here's a similar bracelet from Whiteflash, in platinum, bigger carat weight at about half the price (assuming you're a US buyer)! These are ACA stones too.

My opinion is the same love the WF why pay for Tiffany unless your walking around with the tag dangling I'd rather have quality WF larger diamonds in platinum

My platinum is all shiny...
