Ok-- kind of a long story with my ring... the short version: lost Ering = very sad. No insurance = even sadder. Save money (for a long time) = new ring

SOOOoooo I have a ring that I really like, but after seeing some awesome bezels on this site, I want to get the head changed to a bezel.
The 2 pics are of very different styles (the first is from Fountainfairfax''s lovely ring-- I really hope you don''t mind me chopping it for educ. purposes!) -- (I can''t remember who owns the second bezel)
Anyhoo, I hope its not comparing apples to oranges since one is an OMC (or antique cushion) and the other is RB-- just looking for style comparison.
As of right now, I have a RB, but still within the return period and going to look at antique cuts (believe me, I prefer the antiques, but don''t know if I can afford one comparable to the size of the RB-- and I would be very happy with a RB (it is what was in the ring I lost))

I hope that made sense!!
Let me know what you think

Thanks!!!

Just fyi Peony, an antique stone will usually be cheaper than a comparable size well cut modern RB..take a look and have a chat to Jewels by Erica Grace, they will help you within your budget.
Personally, the 2nd one looks better, but I think thats simply because of the photo-job.
Older stones with bezels are my new fave style - I will have one for a RHR soon, lol !

Honestly, they look like the same thing really, just for different shapes? Are you asking which shape looks better in a bezel? If that is the case the modern stones do IMO because the antique stones are hardly ever symmetrical, which becomes really apparent in a bezel...

Thanks AJ,

I know antiques are usually cheaper, but I''ve been looking and I''m very particular about the cut-- the ones I like (with comp. color, etc.) are no where near the deal of the RB--- I do have a very rep. jeweler who has a few antiques for me to look at in the next couple of days-- so we''ll see!!!! (*crossing fingers*)

fair enough, good luck !

Good point neatfreak---
I think the style is lost in the translation of my cutting and pasting-- the second bezel was much thicker and more modern looking

Ahhhh ok. Well I like a thin bezel, but with a modern stone unless the antique stone is very symmetrical.

I think I agree with you, neatfreak-- I like a thin bezel too-- and I def. see your point about it being symmetrical-- we''ll see what the options are!
(oh, and i looked back at the original pic that I took the second paste job from-- I think I cut off about 1/2 of the diameter... so much for my awesome skills

Have you looked through the SMTR thread? There have been alot of bezels lately

I like the thinner bezel between those two.
