which (and would you even) would you put in a three stone?

hi you lovely people - I haven't posted in a while as I've been trying to nurse the purse. but I feel the ITCH.

came across a few stones and which set would you put in a three stone (or even in a 5 stone - I'll put smaller diamonds on either side to make 5)? these are slightly larger than 5mm each!

do the colours even work together?

Are you saying that you'd put it in this order:
diamond, medium blue, light blue, light pink, diamond?

That's a very unusual look.

I know the pink isn't traditionally put with those blues.. but it's winning me over now that I've been staring at it a while. Would you advise otherwise?

Perhaps I am a traditionalist but I prefer these combinations for a 5 stone:
X-Y-X-Y-X (contrasting or complementary colous, gradient tone works too such as x-Y-X-Y-x)
X-X-X-X-X (same colour, either same tone or gradient tone x-X-X-X-x)

The reason for my choice is something that can be either casual or formal. Having too many different colours in a ring put it solely in the fun category, so you have to make sure you will continue to love it many years down the road. It might end up a more challenging resale if it is too unique.

I like combination 1, 2, 3 best as the stones seem to have the same intensity.
Personally I would not set them in a 3- or 5-stone ring however. I would definitely make a combo of 3 stackers.

You have some lovely coloured stones there Sonyachancs

I tend to agree with Acinom and JoCoJenn, I wouldn't put them in a three or five stone line. However, I think they'd look fabulous (as Acinom said) as stacking rings, or in an asymmetrical layout of some sort. Maybe you could use the Boodles Raindance ring as inspiration, I'll try and attach a photo.
I'm sure that whatever you decide is going to be beautiful.

I would use two of the 3 in a bypass ring, and set the other one as a 3 stone of some kind with diamond sidestones.

thank you all!
I went on holiday and so had no chance to reply, but I'm back now

those three are spinels - they are a recent obsession, and those cool grey and blue tones they come in are just beautiful. I ended buying all three, as I figured I would eventually do something with them, but I also threw in a rhodolite for good measure! they are all a little smaller than I would prefer, but the colours are exceptional.



maybe the two pinks could go in a bypass or moi et toi style, and I could set the blue and grey in a art Deco vertical manner.. the possibilities are endless!

You could go the knuckle duster bling with three halo settings set to odd angles, the scattered stack style where the settings don't touch each other, and then add odd shaped diamonds between them, or a series of solitaires in trumpet style settings that you could mix and match and stack together making look different every day.
