I could swear there was a nice comprehensive thread about how to pic a diamond for a pendant over one for an e ring but I can't find it.
Anybody know where that is?
I found in another thread you want it shallow and with a wider table? True? Are 60/60 stones better?

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/obstruction-vs-shadow.14652/ talks about obstruction vs. shadow.

If you want a great pendant, there'd be nothing wrong with picking a diamond that fits the standard "Pricescope cheat sheet." I think the issue with "pendant stones" is that if a diamond has "head shadow" issues, then using it for a pendant might be preferable to using it for a ring. It's not that those stones are better than current superideal rounds for pendants. It's they are better in a pendant than in a ring, say choosy people. I have a big diamond of depth 58% set in a ring, and it's darker up close and looks fantastic at arm's length. Most people will see it only at arm's length, and I don't sit around staring at it much anymore, so obstruction is kind of a moot point. ;-D

"head shadow" might be term to search here. I use Google with site:pricescope.com

Brilliance is what people notice from across the room, not fire. So a lot of brilliance vs. fire might be more suitable for pendant, too, and that's where the 60/60 recommendation for a pendant might come from.

Again, it all comes down to personal preference, and also how much you are willing to spend. I don't have any real diamonds in pendants. I use sims for that, and that's partly because pendants are more easily stolen or lost than rings, and also because I can't really see or enjoy the stone as much when it's in a pendant.

Thanks so much!
I found around one I like, size and price I like. Its got a nice HCA score of 1 (I heard 1 or under was best for pendants) but is a little lax on the "PS cheat sheet numbers. 58% table, 33.5 crown, 60.7 depth. I wouldnt look for something different if it was a ring but in a pendant are those good?

Also what makes a pendant more likely to be stolen?

Any more ideas?

Can I second Neil's request? I have some ideas about what's good as a pendant vs. ring but am keen on opinions.

As for pendants more likely to be stolen, I think the idea is that they're easier to be stolen since they can be yanked off the neck.
