My partner and I will be travelling along the Pacific Hwy from LA, leaving on the 2nd, and are planning (at the moment) to arrive in San Francisco on the 5th (midday by the latest due to other plans). Does anyone have any ideas on where to stay for 4th of July celebrations?

Since this will be our first time in the US, we''re hoping to see fireworks

Any suggestions on where would be the best place to stop along this route for the day/night? Or would heading into SF for the celebrations be a better idea? We have quite a bit of time to allocated for the drive so we could cut that short if there''s any better places (Sacramento maybe)?

Thanks in advance

old fashioned 4th parade with dogs and firetrucks: boulder creek, california.

on your way to san fran on highway 9. not much after that though. take highway 1 up the rest of the way or cut through on highway 35 to 92 to 280.

continue the drive up to san fran. there is a jazz festival in the filmore district.

this is what i'd be doing if i hadn't broken my ankle...again... this past saturday night.

The parade looks awesome and I love the idea of a jazz music festival! We will definitely look into it.

Anyone else out there with ideas to share?
