i was seriously considering purchasing a diamond from bluenile, but then after reading this forum apparently they are really overpriced... so my question is where should i go? i would prefer to order online because i live in oklahoma city and i don think there are too many good jewlers here that have loose diamonds... maybe i''m wrong about that and someone can correct me about where to go in okc.. but i would like to check online too so that i can see what kind of diamond i can get at a reasonable price. Bottom-line i dont want to spend a bunch of money on the namebrand of a company, but on a better diamond... thanks in advance for the help and advice... here is what i''m looking for:

Length/Width 1.75 - 2.25
Carat 1.0-1.15
Color Higher than H best for F or G
Cut Good and higher
Clarity SI1 or higher
Table 54%-61.5%
Depth 59%-63%
Cutlet None
Girdle -Medium to thick
Flouresence Not too big of concern unless it has strong flourescence or yellow

Price Range : $4000-6000

Hello!

It seems that whiteflash.com, jamesallen.com and goodoldgold.com are some of the more popular vendors amongst pricescope users. I''m sure others will chime in with more suggestions. Good luck!

These are three stones that match your specs and show up on the in-house search at the top

And a G SI2 and Whiteflash http://www.whiteflash.com/marquise/Marquise-cut-diamond-1154687.htm which has good light return, but the shape I don't like so much, and it is fatter than what you're looking for, I think.

So if you could get Ideal Scope images for the first three to start... The shape of the first one seems very nice to me, but there is some darkness in the picture... If those don't work out, the vendors are pretty much going to look through shared virtual lists. What would make me choose one vendor is what they offer when the stone comes in (pictures, Ideal Scope image.) Pick one vendor (Whiteflash, Good Old Gold, or Excel Diamonds would probably be my picks,) because if you go with two or three, they'll probably be hunting down the same stones. I think the pictures that WF take are helpful for fancies, so I'd probably go with them. Personally.

I hear that B.C. Clark has a considerable discount for first-time engagement ring buyers, if you do decide to go the B&M route. (That is, if you''re buying this diamond for an engagement ring... for all I know, it could be one heck of a pendant you''re making.

I don't know what cut you are looking for but Julie has posted marquise so I will go with that. I would look for something with a cut better than good. This is not where you want to save money. Cut is the most important of the 4 C's.

Here is one I like:

It seems in line with the pricing of others. This diamond has great numbers. But as always with marquise, you can't judge them by their numbers. A marquise with great numbers can have a noticeable bow tie. So this project may take some time to find a diamond that is just right.
