Hi everyone!

I''m interested in getting an OEC diamond for my engagement ring. My BF is interested in possibly buying online because we don''t know where to find one locally. I''ve seen so many ladies beautiful antique cut diamonds on here and have been wondering, have any of you bought online? Any suggestions on reputable dealers online?

Thanks in advance!

I bought my old stone at ericagrace.com and am very happy with them so far!
I know there are others out there. GOOD LUCK!

Hi Applewood and welcome!

Some of the online vendors that are wonderful and specialize in old stones include:

Singlestone- www. singlestone.com

Old World Diamonds- www.oldworlddiamonds.com

www.jewelsbyericagrace.com

That''s just a start. Im sure others will chime in. Good luck!!!

Yes jewelsbyericagrace.com, that''s what I meant

Thanks Lotsie, Upgradeable, Dani! I hadn''t heard of erica grace before. We will definately check it out.

For price and quality I can''t recommend Old World Diamonds enough. I''ve contacted SingleStone and Erica/Grace and while they''re both very responsive, they were quite a bit more expensive than Old World.

My 1.75 antique cushion is from Old World and it''s gorgeous.

Hi Applewood

We created our OEC E-ring by getting the setting from Single Stone which had 66 OEC stones and getting the stone from oldworlddiamonds.com

They were both very helpful and Adam at old world diamonds was very very nice. The same ring that is being sold at Lang''s Antiques was about $4000 more than what we paid and we have a bigger stone and more sidestones.

I will say that it was a long process but well worth it in the end. Good luck!

Welcome Applewood!

We got my setting, stone and wedding band at Peter Suchy jewelers in Stamford, CT. I''m fortunate enough to be an hour''s drive from his shop. They do have an eBay shop, but it contains only a fraction of their inventory. You can e-mail Peter and tell him what you''re looking for and I''m sure he can send you lots of options.

Sorry for the mini-threadjack, but purrfectpear, when you worked with Old World Diamonds, were you able to visit them and see the stone? Did they help you pick out one that looked great? Did they send you more pictures? I''ve been looking around (not seriously yet, so I didn''t want to call and bug them) and I was wondering how their process works. They have so many stones online, I would hardly know where to start picking out a good one.

Another thing I want to add about ericagrace...they are extremely interested in making sure you get the stone you want. There is no such thing as too many questions or too many concerns. I did not work with either of the two other vendors mentioned in this thread, but I would feel amiss if I did not add this comment :)

elrohwen - If I may also answer your question, Old World Diamonds was great. If you do a search under "wandamas" you will find my old posts where I discussed my process with them. Adam was wonderful and we went to visit him twice! While its not a public showcase because they are located in a very HIGH profile building with more of an office set-up they do have every diamond on their webpage in stock so as long as you tell him what you have in mind he will pull a variety out from much over your budget to less so you can compare. There was never any pressure, in fact he held our diamond for over a month and a half while my finace made up his mind. He never hesitated to send me additional photos or info. And he is very honest, at first he was going to mount the diamond into single stones setting but when he saw it he said its best if single stone does it because the prongs seemed so delicate.

Don''t hesitate to go with old world, they were a wonder to deal with.

Applewood, thanks for starting this thread. I am also interested in purchasing an antique cusion/OEC for my next diamond project, so I am curious to see what you end up doing. Do you have an idea of what kind of stone you are looking for (type/specs)? What about settings? Please keep us updated!!!!

No ring yet for me. I am headed to Singlestone this weekend to pick the perfect setting for this cushion:

I also had a great experience with OldWorldDiamonds; Adam was very helpful and honest, when I called with a list of diamonds for him to look at for me, he was quick to tell me which were too deep/too shallow or not eyeclean. The one I got was an EGL USA N/SI1, and when he said it was eyeclean from every angle he wasn''t kidding, it''s beautiful.

I''ve also purchased two other OECs, both off ebay. Ebay is perhaps a better route for antique diamonds than modern ones; just make positive sure it''s a reputable vendor with lots of feedback. And that there''s a return policy. Sometimes sellers will make an exception to a no-return policy if you ask. Also great photos are essential, plus an independant appraisal during the return period.

SingleStone & Jewels by Erica Grace were sellers I''ve corresponded with and been impressed by their professionalism & helpfulness.

There are a couple of ebay sellers that have great feedback and return policies. Although that''s a bit chancy for an engagement ring so I''ll echo the others: oldworlddiamonds, singlestone, and ericagrace.

I''ve worked with EricaGrace before and was thrilled with everything.

It is YOUR cushion that pushed me over the cushion edge...

I definitely agree, Adam is a straight shooter and quite helpful.

I purchased mine from the virtual database that is listed on PS through Whiteflash. I could have also asked James Allen to check it out for me. I noticed that Wink also has some OECs right now in his inventory.
