Forgive me if this is a repeat topic; I tried searching for it but didn''t come up with anything. I would love to know where to find an old mine cut diamond. I''ve been absolutely dazzled by several I''ve seen on here (particularly CehraBehra''s beauty!!), and would love to own one! Trouble is, there are only two old diamonds in my family that I know of, and both are brilliant cuts. Surely there''s a way to find the OMC of my dreams. . .anyone know of places I could look? Thanks!

Hi Major Groove,

Most estate jewelry stores have rings with OMC diamonds. Try antique shops, pawn shops, even most retailers
have a few.. you might have to ask because they might not be on display. Maybe a friend or relative has one that
might be for sale. Good luck.

I not sure of this dealer''s reputation but this might be an option:

Old World Diamond

If you do a search on "OMC" and/or "OEC" you'll find a lot of threads on the topic.

FYI, Cehra's stone is not an antique/vintage stone, it's a cushion that's cut to older style proportions. But not all new cushions are cut that way.

If you want a real antique stone, you should take your family stones to be appraised...if they are that old, they may well me Old European Cuts (OECs) or Transitional Cuts, both of which are wonderful, but they are both round in shape. The OMCs can be more cushiony, or more roundish or off round, depends on each one.

Again, search for all the above and you'll find a ton of threads here. Good luck!

ETA: I just did a search for "Old Mine Cut" and got a ton of threads...

i don''t know what size you are looking for but pat at singlestone sent me info on i believe an OMC -- 99 pointer H/VS1 6.33-6.15 x 4.14 Depth 66.3 Table: 42 culet Med Polish good Sym: good Florescent: None.

i don''t know if it is still available (it was last week) but it looked good in the pic she sent. other omc/oec experts can weigh in on the depth and table specs. you might try and give pat a call and see if it is an OMC. if it isn''t she prob has OMCs that might meet your requirements.

As someone who never really thought twice about old jewellery/ diamonds.....that Single Stone site has me drooling badly!!!!!

Ringster,
That OMC spec looks damn fine. A high colour and clarity stone with a reasonable depth and tiny table. I would love to see a picture of it. Yummy!

Local dealers or web dealers can call Michael Goldstein, Inc or Rick Shatz, Inc, both located in 580 Fifth Ave, NYC for stones such as OEC or OM cuts. While these sources work only with dealers, they''d probably welcome new dealer accounts. Both have substantial old diamond inventories. No complaints about Single Stone, either. Just more choices.

hey chrono and everyone - so sorry! i was mistaken. it is an OEC and not an OM. it was labeled incorrectly in the email. i should have realized by the shape but i am not so familiar with the OM. here is the pic anyway
