Hi there - I was wondering if I could trouble everyone to suggest some websites that post ACTUAL photos of loose diamonds? Just want to get an idea about what different inclusions and colours actually LOOK like (I am interested in a lower grade colour stone and they are hard to find. Say from L through Z)

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Jodie, you can search using this tool http://www.pricescope.com/sift.aspx Also, under knowledge are some useful topics.

The only problem with your request is, one, monitors vary, so you can't rely on the color you see as being actual. And with magnified pics, you'll see VS1 inclusions, that you couldn't find in real life with a loupe if your life depended on it.

It's best to go to a jewelers and actually look at diamonds. That is the only true way to get a "real picture" of them.

Infinity Diamonds is a diamond cutter. You can''t buy directly from them but they post actual photos of their stones. (They have stones beautifully cut in lower colors. I got an M from them and it is warm and fabulous!) Winfields in a PS vendor that sells them.

You can not tell color differences between photos of different stones because the lighting that they use to photograph changes.

You often can see inclusions although many times they aren''t visible either, especially if they are near the edges. GOG points out the inclusions.

Thanks guys - after I wrote that I realized my question didn''t really come out the way I meant it to..... I guess I meant to say, do people have links to on-line retailers that might carry L-Z stones AND have actual photos of them? Many don''t show actual photos and/or don''t carry anything below a K grade.

I guess what I''m MOST interested in is diamonds that are REALLY far down on the scale (say from S through Z although I''m just guessing). L, M, and N are still very "pale yellow" looking to me (and not really what I''m after). I''ve seen the odd "low grade" one pop up when I do a loose diamond search (just did a search here that came up with an "X" and two "W''s". I''ve never seen one that "low" so no idea of what it would actually look like).

Basically I''m wondering where the line is drawn between FANCY yellow and FANCY champagne and cognac and something that is just graded as being low, low, LOW down on the scale if you know what I mean? Now that champagne''s are popular, are ANY diamonds that are more brown than yellow classified as champagne?

Went to Faye Cullen to get some examples of what I''m talking about.....

Here''s one that is called a "Fancy light yellow".....

.... and here is one that is called a "P" grade......

Not much difference.......

...... soooooo.......

If I want a "fancy brownish pinkish yellow" (this is pretty close to the type of colour I am looking for - it is referred to as "fancy brown yellow") can I find it in the lower grades (Q,R,S,T,U,V,W,X,Y,Z) rather than going the whole "fancy" route?
