Where to find a fairly small diamond?

So I found this ring at the dreaded maul that I absolutely love. It''s probably meant to be an engagement ring, but I would wear it on my right hand. The whole ring is a 1/4 carat, and it''s a tiny center stone (they have it in round, marquise, pear, princess, and emerald cuts) with a tiny diamond halo, and a teeny tiny diamond set on either side, like a surprise diamond. Since the maul ladies didn''t have any idea what size the center stone was, I am just going to look for a pretty small one and see if I can get the ring custom made elsewhere. But where on earth would I find a diamond that small? Even on the equally dreaded ebay everything is fairly big, and I have no idea what size the center diamond should be with the whole ring weighing a 1/4 carat. Suggestions?

Welcome to Pricescope! I would be careful of ebay, since people have been taken. I think whatever you like is wonderful with a 1/4 ct diamond ring; it is personal preference. If you want to give us a budget we can help you look

I would just ask whoever is making the setting to source it for you.

If I''m doing a ring with 0.30ct baguettes on each side, I don''t go shopping for them myself, I just put 0.30ct baguettes on the order and they magically appear!

I want to keep my budget fairly small since this is just a right-hand right, so maybe under 1k for the whole thing? I know melee tends to rack up the price on rings, and the one I saw in the maul was $500. The husband said $500 is ok, so I wanted to see if I could possibly go even lower by getting it custom so I can have something more special than the maul shop ring.

Custom settings are a LOT more expensive than a stock setting. I doubt you'd be looking at less than $1k in 14k gold just for the price of the setting - then you'd need to add the diamonds in on top of that.

The jeweller has to produce a CAD, a wax and then have a one off piece made up and the stones set. Then you have the metal price on top of that.

It might be worth trying to find a stock setting that is similar. They are much cheaper as one CAD can produce thousands of settings rather than just the one.

Gosh, I cannot find something like that. What about talking to Wink of Winfield's he carries Stuller and they have reasonably priced stock pieces.

To be perfectly honest, I''d get the one from the mall. You love it, it''s right there in front of you, and you probably won''t be able to get custom work done for that price. I''ve gotten plenty of smaller pieces from mall stores; I just wouldn''t buy a larger diamond at a mall because they tend to be overpriced and of lower quality than the PS vendors.

I don''t krisvrn - they wouldn''t let me take a picture, and it isn''t one that is offered on their website. It''s very simple, but I am finding that it isn''t something other stores carry since it is so small. Futuremrss found some really good ones (thanks!), but not quite what I found in the maul. (I''d name it but have no idea if it a banned thing or not, and I would rather not lose my post.)

I think I may just give in and buy it, jstarfireb. I just didn''t care too much for the center diamond when I looked at it - compared to my e-ring, which I chose the diamond for, it looks so blah. And I want is a pretty emerald cut, darn it.

Thank you though ladies If you find anymore ring settings like this, please let me know! I won''t be buying it until my rebates come in late June.
