I''ve been looking for an engagement style ring for my left hand. I finally found one I love at Macy''s but am unsure of it''s quality. So I went to the diamond district in NYC but am worried that I''d get cheated. Last stop was Fortunoffs where I trust the quality but I have to envision the stone in a setting. I don''t have the imagination to see the finished product so I am stalling. Of course the once a year sale on solitaires is today so that puts the pressure on. What to do? Will I get the same quality at Macy''s? .75 to 1 carat oval diamond set with baguettes. Fortunoffs is 3/4 carat, E color, vvs2. I know that''s great but it''s not set so I can''t be sure. You get my drift? I feel like I''m test driving cars and don''t know which to buy? Help

Hi atrebor, and welcome!

I''m sure there are better deals to be made, than at the "once a year" solitaire sale. Sounds like their slick marketing and pressure tactics has you stressed out. This is a major purchase, and you want to get it right.
My suggestion would be: Don''t buy anything today! Don''t be pressured into buying something you aren''t sure about. Stick around here a while ... you will learn everything you need. Then, after you have a feel for how to compare and figure out exactly what you want you can make a purchase that is timed to suit YOU! There are many beautiful diamonds and settings. You will get the help you need right here. I looked at settings for a long time, and found "the one" because of being on Pricescope . . . You will, too.

Have a look at the Pricescope vendors websites as you could find something you love for a setting or they could create one for you and also help you find a spectacular diamond to go in it. Check out these guys to begin with,

HI:

I second the advice already given--don''t decide right now since you do not seem to be completely sure about what you want. And although I know the idea of a "sale" is enticing, that context adds unnecessary pressure into the mix. I know it is difficult, but try to keep an open mind about ring shopping; trying on different shapes, sizes and settings, really is part of the fun.

Have you found a picture online of the setting you love? Can you post it here and perhaps we can try and find a great stone to match?

cheers--Sharon

Please don''t buy from Macy''s! I hate seeing people spending their hard earned money on Macy''s diamonds. You will get MUCH better quality, and better pricing if you look online. My bf was skeptical about buying online at first, but now we would never go another way! Lorelei has given you some great places to start looking. Happy shopping!

gets pics of the macys ring and send to whiteflash. Or buy the ring, take pics and then return it. Whiteflash can copy most of it but alot needs to be altered due to copyright I think. NEVER buy something when pressured... You will regret it in the end

Ditto! Use a trusted PS vendor. You will get an amazing ring at a realistic price.

Can you get out to GoodOldGold? I think they are on Long Island.

Why, thank you Lorelei. I have been on here a year now. It's good to know I learned something from you veterans along the way!
