Where to buy round diamonds with extra facets?

Is GOG the only PS vendor that sells the extra faceted diamonds (eighternity, solasfera, star129)? Or are there others? A lot of diamond experts don''t seem to like them. But I think the extra little sparkles are pretty neat.

I, too, am surprised that most experts like the traditional 57 faceted H&A round-brilliant most over the fancier RB''s with more facets (and higher price). I wonder why that is from an expert POV? I myself purchased a H&A stone on the recommendation of the nice folks on this forum but have not seen in the person the ones with more facets (other than the Leo which I didn''t like as much as the Peerless).

I am not sure if http://www.davidsdiamonds.com is a PS vendor but I believe he is the "inventor" of the solasfera. I am no expert but I am not a fan of the extra facets having seen them in real life.

Personally I'm not a fan of the extra facets. First of all, it's mostly an aesthetic difference, not a difference in performance- a well cut diamond is a well cut diamond, regardless of the number of facets. Also you pay a premium for the brand name, as I think the extra facet stones are mostly branded cuts. And the look is not what I like- splintery, busy and small flashes of fire rather than larger ones. Perhaps in a larger stone it would work better for me, but I like 58 facets.

That being said, if you like the look, I'm sure Solasferas perform beautifully. It's a matter of taste- fewer large fire flashes with 58 facets, or more frequent small ones.

I recently received a Forever 10 diamond for my engagement ring and love the sparkle. It has 10 hearts and arrows like the Solasfera but with 71 facets instead of the 91 facets that Solasfera has. It sparkles like crazy but, I''m guessing may seem a little bit less "busier" than the Solasfera. I''m not sure if any online vendors carry Forever 10.

When my fiancee and I looked at different stones we looked at the Gabrielle cut which had 105 facets which looked way busy to me. The Forever 10 was just perfect for me with the extra facets but, not too much where I felt the busyness was taking away from the beauty of the diamond.

As previously stated in the thread, diamond selection is a matter of personal taste. While our primary focus is on round brilliant ideal cut diamonds, we also represent the Eighternity production which is an 81 facet round brilliant. Most of the people I sit down with definitely seem to prefer the broader flashes of brilliance and dispersion offered by the traditional round, but there are certainly plenty of people who prefer the smaller flashes produced by the Eighternity which offers more of a disco ball type of look. One of the ladies who used to work for us purchased a 1.20 carat, G, VS-2 Eighternity when she upgraded her wedding ring and she just loves it! Myself, I''m partial to the look of a traditional round brilliant... It''s all about personal preference! You should buy what makes you happy
