Where to buy platinum earring back for diamond studs?

I'm so annoyed, I managed to lose one of the backs for my diamond stud earrings! I called the vendor where I purchased the earrings and was told that a replacement would cost $55, which seems kind of steep so I thought I'd ask here. Does anyone know of a less expensive place to purchase a single, regular platinum earring back?

Are they regular backs or screw-in backs?

I personally hate the screw-in backs, I lost one of mine, and it was a hassle trying to find one, so I decided to use a rubber one to replace it (you can buy a pack of 4 from regular jewelry store like Zales, my friend told me she found a pack from Claire's even). Unless you are allergic.

If it's just regular backs, I have used my other earring's back to replace it, or try Zales/Kays, AMAZON.COM has too (search earring backs).
