Where can I buy a good H&A scope? Ideally, one that I can attach my camera from the top and take pics. But most importantly, I want to be able to judge H&A pattern of a diamond clearly with my own eyes.

The closest thing I found to the one mentioned on the GOG website (http://goodoldgold.com/4Cs/Shape/RoundHeartsAndArrows/) is this one for $50:
http://kassoy.com/ec/1/product.asp?idDept=320&idProduct=2024

They also sell a miniature version which doesn't look as sturdy:

And there's this one:
http://national-jewelers-supplies.amazonwebstore.com/Hearts-Arrows-Scope/M/B001G72RES.htm?traffic_src=froogle&utm_medium=organic&utm_source=froogle

I'll post some pics of the various options online.

Here''s the Economy Hearts and Arrows Viewer Without Desk Stand from Kassoy (they have one that comes with desk stand also):

This is similar to the one I have... works ok but a pain for pics.

The full size scopes are better for pics but they arent very portable.

strmrdr, is this one considered a full size scope?

Dancing Fire, dang, looks like you bought a whole toolkit! How much did that whole thing cost?? I actually just placed an order for that same H&A viewer from Kassoy too, based on strmrdr''s comments.
Care to give a review? In particular, I was wondering if that H&A viewer would work for a diamond mounted in a setting?

Oh, actually I''m going to use it on a loose diamond. But just wondering if the tool will still be handy in the future once it''s mounted! Will a whole ring fit in that thing?
By the way does it work well? I had ordered one from another company that didn''t really meet my expectations with the CZ that came with it.

(I don''t have the loose diamond yet!) They''re letting me return it with full refund though so I don''t want to bash them on here.

it doesn't matter,it will not work on a mounted stone, cuz your setting would cover up the hearts.

Oh, I was just thinking that it could be used on the arrows that''s all. But you''re right on the hearts...sigh, so sad that such a beautiful view can''t even be seen once the ring is mounted!

Are these viewers the same as the idel-scope?

No I think ideal scope is different. I think H&A is for seeing the hearts and arrows symmetry, ideal scope is to measure return of light...I''m a newbie though so my explanations could be off.

No, you''re absolutely right.

Ideal-Scope and ASET show cut PERFORMACE. They were developed in factories & laboratories to study and improve light return.

Optical Symmetry viewers (aka Hearts & Arrows viewers) show cut PRECISION. They use a single color and no backlighting simply to show physical cut alignment in 3D. They reveal nothing about light return, which is a prerequisite for cut precision to have benefits.

Cut Performance viewers are concerned with light output in the crown view only. Cut Precision viewers show facet alignment in crown and pavilion.
