I have an cartier solitaire 1895 diamond ring, 1.34ct, F, VVS2, round, triple excellent cut with GIA and certificate. I am in NY and do u guys know where is the best place i should go to sell it? I bought it for around $23k. And how much will dealers usually pay for it?

Thank you for you advices!

Be prepared for a massive loss.........You do have the added benefit of it being Cartier because reselling Tiffany and Cartier is somewhat better than selling just a GIA/AGS stone.....people like labels, LOL.

I know I am selling my 2.11 RB and retail on it is around $19k,but we paid less from a PS vendor......lets just say people are trying to offer me WHOLESALE MINUS another 40-50%.......so like $4-5K.....no way in heck I would be that desparate when I can trade it towards my upgrade for way more.....like double.

Best of luck.....try calling a well respected gemologist to see if they will try and sell it for you with all of their contacts. Of course they take commission but they will most likely get you more for it.

Or, try your own hand at Ebay and Craigslist

you might want to try SignedPieces. they are located in NY. They will offer you a price on your ring.

Pearlmans also does consignment. I''ve consigned a couple of items with them with success. You''ll end up getting a better price consigning but it could take a lot longer sell so it''s not the route for quick cash.

Ditto these options as a first step.

I know we always say be prepared to sell it for half of what was paid. But seriously... I would be jumping on it if I found what I was looking for at 50%. If I saw a used ACA at 50% of retail, I would be seriously considering it. Same applies for a cartier ring. I just picked up a used Tiffany platinum ring for 1/4 of the retail price - super happy because it was off ebay and the seller made a mistake in the title stating it was silver and nothing about the diamonds.

Nice!

Strange, though - how in the world did he miss the big PLAT, or the 900/950 inscription on the inside? Did it not have one?

It did have the correct inscriptions - Tiffany & Co PT950 Peretti. He corrected the mistake in an answer but never bothered to update the title and description. This ring only came in platinum and G/VS diamonds so it was a steal especially for people who know their tiffany products. I would have won it for 1/15 of the retail if this one other bidder didn''t jack up the price.
