Ok, so doing my research Thaigem is out, but I am looking for affordable (under $200 apx. per ct) genuine sapphires that are heated- is there such a thing? It seems that it would be easy to buy synthetic gems if there is no certification unless someone knows where to get the real thing. Thanks! I''m really after a pink or pad round or square 6mm but open to suggestions.

You might be able to get a pink or orange pink 6 mm heat only sapphire but it’s not going to look attractive at under $200/ct. It will either be desaturated (brownish), very pale or clarity challenged.

A pink might be possible but it won''t be good for $200 or under.

A real "pad" I''m afraid is way outside your budget.

There are a few very affordable pink, heat only sapphires on Simply Sapphires and on Jyotish Gems. Apart from that, you might, these under $200 sapphires caught my eye:

Gem Trader Sapphire

Precision Gem 662

One from Barry

Good luck with your search! Try sending an email out to vendors to see if they might have something that''s not listed on their sites.

ETA: one more: Sapp 4701 from Mastercutgems

Take a look at simplysapphires.com. They might have something in your pricerange, but for $200/ct, unfortunately it might be lacking in color.

Thanks to everyone for the fast advice! I think I checked out all the links and had fun seeing all the great gems out there! This is the only one that fits the criteria out of the suggestions (as far as I could tell). It is from Simply Sapphires: Burmese Baby Pink 6mm round . It''s cheap, $69, but is it just me or are the cut and clairty pretty crap? I don''t mind the soft pink colour, it looks natural. It seems there really isn''t much available that is 6mm round or square, even without worrying about the price. I am even considering blues or purple if I could find one.

I just found Simply Sapphires had another section I missed. HEre I found a blue one:

Burma 6mm blue $94

Clarity & cut in question- does it look terrible???

I really like this one, but it is cushion cut and I don''t know if it will fit into my setting ok. This one is $298 and is blue, but since I can''t find any pinks or pad coloured ones so far, this is worth considering:

Ceylon Cushion Cut Blue Sapphire 1.26 Cts 6.3x5.8x4.1mm

Do you think this would fit a 6mm princess / round setting, though? I do love cusion cuts.

Did you email them and asked them if they had any material not online. I tend to do that with most online vendors since some do not have all their material online. Also check out ajsgems.com.

Kate,

Just a thought. Had you considered a pink spinel instead or I see it's switched a little in the posts to blue now? I'd imagine you'd get nice one for what you wanted to pay and a lot more choice.

If it has to be a sapphire. I understand!!!

I really like the last couple of cushions you posted. But I don''t know if they will fit in your setting. Usually there is a bit of wiggle room. But if the setting is for a princess and you go with a cushion? Maybe a jeweler could tell you.

And if you don''t like what you see out there just talk to a couple of cutters maybe they have some rough that would work.

Does anyone know gemsny.com ? They have what looks like genuine sapphires that are mostly heated and quite a lot for me to choose from (rounds anyway), only 1 princess that may work but is a bit small but great pink color. I saw one old post here from someone who bought one and loved it. The ones over $300 they certify themselves but this older post said they had a third party certification and the buyer/poster was going to get GIA to certify it as well but never a mention later about the outcome.
