Anyone have an idea where/what kind of store I might be able to procure a jeweler''s loupe locally? (charlotte, NC area). I have the ''I want it now'' itch and don''t want to wait for one ordered online.

Hi! I am not in your area but I did manage to find a jewler's loupe in a local store (I couldn't wait either - but you might have to). It was a store called Chesapeake Knife and Tool and the loupe was $10.00. Good Luck!

What trouble are you going to get into with a loupe?

What clarity are you going to choose?
If it is above SI1 I think you are crazy

I mostly just want one to play with, try and see if I can identify the primary inclusions myself. I'm not planning on going any better than SI1 in clarity as I don't particularly value something I can't see with the naked eye....but on the other hand if I'm paying so much money on a little pice of carbon, I'd like to examine it as closely as possible before plunking down the cash, because I'm anal that way

There are lots of sites on-line where you can order one. Locally, you should be able to find 10x magnification loupes available at a Coin and Currency or Stamp dealer. Those folks use them too.

You passed the test.

It worries me when consumers try to make call's on grades after 1/2 hours practice. It is hard enough after 30 years

Funny, I bought my loupe to get better close up pictures of my JEWELS!!
(putting it over my lens & snapping away!)

Cut Nut, is that wrong?
