Where Are Internet Diamonds Located?

Hi guys, upon reading a post, I discovered that the diamond I just purchased was up for sale by a different internet company. It had the same stock number, specs, everything. However,for the price, it said "Call" and I assume because I''d already purchased it. The company that I purchased the diamond from is in New York and the company who I noted was also selling the diamond is in Dallas and is also a "B&M". From talking to the salesperson at the company I purchased the diamond from, I assumed that it was right there with her. It could be that the Dallas company would have to secure it from the New York company, I don''t know, just guessing.

Hi Msbennie...if you do a search on price scope...you will see that many vendors offer the same stones...B&M stores also have access to the same stones...they get them from the manufacturer...the reason the other internet vendor says "call" has nothing to do with the fact that the stone is sold...they have not updated their "stock" list yet and have no idea it's sold...they will eventually update.... it says "call" just b/c they don't want it listed on the net...! Enjoy your stone!

And also, the vendor who sold it to you very well could have had the stone in the store on "memo"...they just didn't own it!

You will find many internet diamonds listed with hundreds of different sites and the actual possession is hard to determine. I had a client call on Monday morning wanting me to give him a rebate of $200 on a diamond that he had bought because he saw it cheaper on another website. Only problem is that the other website could never have delivered the diamond at any price since I owned it and the cutter that I bought it from did not like the internet vendor and had repeatedly asked him not to list his stones.

I asked the guy to go ahead and ask them to get the stone for him, he said how could they since he already had it in his possession, but that if he sent it back he could get it from them when I returned it to my dealer. I tild him that when I did not have a stone it was $400 cheaper but I don't think he got the joke. I told him that if he asked they woud tell him that the stone was out on memo right now but that they would try to get him something similar. He said, wow, that is just what they told me when I called, So since I know you bought it from them I want a discount.

When he called back and they finally admitted they had never seen the stone he decided to keep it after all...

There are some of us who only list the stones that we have on hand, although we can always get others to match your calls, and some who list thousands of stones but have only two or three ever in their possession at any one time. (Don't go to visit my old site now, there is nothing in the way of diamond inventory listed, but when my new site is up and running in another week or two you will see a small but very nice in hand inventory.)

You will often see the sites that actually own the inventory be a few dollars more than the "list 'em by the zillion" houses. We actually spend some time checking the stones to make sure they are what we say they are and that they match the certs.

So to answer your question, it could be that neither house actually had your stone in hand, but one of them certainly either had it or bought it for you and now the other one can not.

Thanks so much...I had no idea...it just so happened by accident that I determined this....
