I told my mother today that I was in the market for an engagement ring, and she reminded me that years ago I inherited my late grandmother''s ring. I don''t know the details yet, but I know that the diamond is pear shaped weighing over 1.3 carrats. I know it is set in white gold and we purchased probably around 1935.
My finace to be wants a 2ct princess cut set in platinum and I have done my research and I am very lucky to be able get her what she wants within the next 6 months. My question is, knowing that my grandmother would want me to be happy with the ring and do what I want with it, where and how should I go about selling it? I am having it apraised tomorrow at a local jewler, but should I get it certified? I want to buy my ring online, since the prices are about 1/2 what I have seen at jewlers.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
