Over 35 years ago I saw in an antique store a piece of Art Nouveau English porcelain by William Moorcroft and it stole my heart.
Back then as a penniless student I could only ogle through the glass of the cabinet, priced in the thousands it was.
Sigh.
The decades pass and I buy lots of porcelain pieces at auction but a piece of Moonlit Blue is rare to come across, in fact, in 35 years of regular auction attendance, not a piece of Moonlit Blue has been there for me.
Until today.
A large bowl AND a sugar bowl up for auction.
OMG, I felt quite sick waiting for lot number 72. I know 2 years ago a vase went for $7,200 in Melbourne, there’s a few small pieces on eBay, $5,000 plus. Hubby says $4,000 max. As if I’m thinking. As if.
Well....
My patience was rewarded, I acquired my first (and second) piece of Moorcroft 1925 Moonlit Blue and I’m over the moon (ha ha).
So worth the wait.
