Proposal When to propose...

I am waiting for the engagement ring to arrive any day. Should I try to propose right before she leaves to go home so that she can say she is engaged to her family friends or wait until we get back for New Years in Bahamas (although this will be with my family) or wait until after Bahamas and after we are back home?
