Hi,
I''m thinking of upgrading my current studs (currently .51 and .42) for my upcoming anniversary if my husband agrees :)

Anyhow, how much of a difference can there be between the size of the stones.

For example, if I were looking at a .73 and a .74 but the measurements were 5.75 for one and 5.82 for the other, would you see it visually? Would that work?

I am not sure I''m asking the question right, but first I''m focusing on cut, and I know I want an H color, and clarity is still up in the air, but size wise, how much difference in size can I go without being noticable?

Perfect!!!

In my opinion 2/10th. of a millimeter would be just fine as far as range for a pair.
Some think that more is fine too!!! (as long as there is a nose between the two stones!)

Thanks for your response. So what is the largest difference you would safe with?

I found an amazing stone thats 5.75, H&A, GIA certified, H/VS1 and am looking for a match. And I''m wondering how much larger or smaller in mm I can go.

And yes, there will be a nose inbetween LOL.

You should be safe with: 5.65mm -- 5.75mm. -- 5.85mm.
You pick...

Good luck,

Thanks for your help.

By the way, what is your avatar. That is a really cool photo. Is it a diamond?

Hello,
I just recently asked a similar question when trying to pick the two diamonds for my studs. Here is the link to the thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/how-closely-do-diamonds-have-to-match-for-studs.66572/

I ended up going with the two from wf (ES .588 G VS2 and ACA .577 E SI2), against the advice of many. A few people said that they would go up or down one color or clarity garde, but not two. The two stones I chose are two color and two clarity grades different, but I am very happy with my choice. I think it all really depends on how sensitive you are to certain things. I am very color sensitive, and while I can see a very very slight color difference when looking through the sides of the stones while they are not in my ears, I can not tell at all when they are on. They both look super icey white in my ears. No one that I have asked has been able to see the difference while they are on either. As for the size difference (5.42-5.43x3.32 and 5.39-5.40x3.29), I cannot notice it at all. Nor do I notice the differences in depth (61.2 and 60.9) or table size (54.9 and 56). Lastly, the clarity difference (VS2 and SI2) is not noticeable at all either, unless you are looking at them under the loupe. The SI2 is eye-clean from all distances, so it does not bother me one bit.
