When do you wear your jewelry

I've noticed a lot of posts lately about women not wearing their jewelry at home or work and it got me thinking ---- where DO you wear your jewelry? I've recently stopped wearing my rings to bed because I am concerned about possibly damaging them in my sleep, and I don't wear them in the shower or while putting on make-up or doing my hair because I don't want them exposed to chemicals. But I wear them everywhere else I go.

I see a lot of posts about women not wearing their rings on an every day basis and it just boggles my mind. In my mind, jewelry is meant to be worn, and appreciated, not to spend it's life sitting in a jewelry box just longing to be worn.

Every piece of jewelry I own, I wear. I don't have a lot, but, in addition to my e-ring set and RHR, Ihave 3 Tiffany pendants, one diamond pendant, and one Tous Pendant, and I rotate them daily. I also have a Tous bracelet that DH gave me that I wear daily.

So, tell me.... where do you wear your jewels?

Pretty much everywhere that they won't be damaged or risk being lost. In addition to the places you remove yours, I don't wear mine for housework and cooking (because who really wants to pick raw ground been out of their rings?) or gardening and kayaking. Otherwise, I wear them all the time. I love them too much not to. I've also been known to change my jewelry halfway through the day, if the mood strikes.

At home I do not wear jewelry (unless we are entertaining) - otherwise, I wear jewelry every time I leave the house, unless I am going to do chores (helping someone move or paint or garden, etc.) Selecting my jewelry is the pure pleasure part of dressing -- and it looks good whether I've washed my hair or done laundry or feel overwhelmed by the day. Pretty much the only time I don't wear or consider not wearing jewelry (other than wedding rings) is when I'm sick and on my way to the doctor or the pharmacy, but even then I usually decide to wear at least one extra piece as I know it lifts my spirits. And part of our routine when we "go out" is for DH to look over and check out my bling, and we blather a bit about the pieces I chose and the pieces I thought about wearing... you know, I enjoy those conversations almost as much as wearing the jewelry.

While I've been thinking about leaving the e-ring off at work, I wound up just switching it to the other hand so it didn't scream "e-ring!" quite as much, or register on the left-hand radar sweep people generally perform. Right now I wear it pretty much every day, along with my "staple" pieces - earrings, pendant, and bands. The only time I take any of it off is if I'm working with my hands.

I'll admit, an awfully large part of my collection lives in the safety deposit box: it came to me in the form of gifts from my parents when I was younger, and at first I was just too young for it to look right, and now I dunno if my day-to-day life lends itself to that sort of thing. But you're right, it is a shame to just leave it all penned up in the dark ....

I love my rings but I find wearing rings in general uncomfortable when I am using my hands. So if I am going "out" and can act like a lady I put everything on, but if I am lugging groceries, enjoying the great outdoors, cooking, etc. I leave them off. I always wear my diamond pendant and earrings, just not the rings.

I started off married life NEVER taking my rings off. I wore them skiing, changing diapers, gardening, swimming, everything until I bent the whole head and could have lost the stone if I hadn't noticed how badly damaged it was. So now I am more careful.

I wear them everywhere, including the bed and in the shower!

I wear my earrings and ring to work, and pretty much all day. I always wear my earrings, but I take the ring off if i'm going to be doing something greasy, for swimming, and also when I do invasive species removal at a local park, because I worry about snagging it on something (lots of pruning and hauling plants out by the roots). All jewellery comes off to sleep and usually to bathe.

I'm getting a channel set half eternity as a tough activity ring because I feel weird with my ring finger bare.

I used to wear them 24/7 but when I had my baby it was more comfortable to leave them off while home. Now I wear them to school. I don't wear them to the gym, to sleep, to shower, to clean, or with clients. It is not about me being worried of damaging them. I have insurance. Honestly, it is about comfort. I am ALL about comfort.

Ditto

I wear my e-ring, wedding band, and a pair of earrings every day, and occasionally I'll wear a RHR. If I'm just hanging out at home though or going to the gym/pool, I don't wear my rings.

I wear diamond studs, my rings, and a watch every day. I take my wedding set off when I am cooking, cleaning, going in the shower, sleeping (my fingers swell because I like to tuck my hand under my chin or pillow), or when hubby and I are...well, when I don't want to risk scratching him with my ring. ;)

I rarely take off my watch or earrings unless it's to clean them.

I've found my bling-sister!

This is exactly what I do. And I feel the same way, it's the pure pleasure part of dressing.

I don't wear it at home, but I always put it on before I walk out the door to go anywhere. That is unless, I am going to go pay the rent or something that only takes like 2-3 minutes.

I have a Rolex watch which i wear 24/7 all year round and i do the same with my plain wedding band. Those two pieces are a part of my body and i can imagine me taking them off as much as i can imagine me taking off my own...hand!
I also wear my ER all the time, even during my sleep, but i take it off when i shower and when i'm cooking. Whenever i go out i also add my diamond studs and my diamond half eternity band. I also have a diamond pendant, which i wear when i go out on special occasions, mostly because i don't realy like wearing things around my neck all the time. I have many RHR which i don't wear often. Mostly they stay in the box :( My 1.22ct diamond RHR has been worn approximately five times so far...(or maybe less?). The pink tourmaline ring twice. All the other diamond jewelry is in a safety deposit box and i hardly ever see it...

I wear my jewelry when I go out somewhere, like to school, work, etc. Not when I go to the gym, or go skiing, or do other outdoor stuff. I just don't like having things on my hands in those cases and also I have a ton of colored stones and I want them to be protected!

I'm a way bigger risk for losing jewelry than I am damaging it- I am a huge space cadet in terms of losing stuff, even if I "try" to be good and only put it in one place, if I get in the habit of removing my jewelry for various reasons I'm guaranteed to be lazy and think, oh I'll put it here, it will be safe... and forget where that is. So. I wear my e-ring and my RHR all the time unless I am actually cleaning them. I sleep with them, I clean the house with them, I simply don't take them off. (And I'm really glad I opted for a bezel from Victor Canera- between that and the channel set sidestones, I'm really happy it's quite sturdy and not something I can damage easily.)

Personally, I wear my jewelry for *me* to enjoy and look at, and so I wouldn't dream of taking it off in the house- I mean, I can play with my ring openly and not look ridiculous :naughty: whereas in public, not so much! DH is quite used to my quirks, and standing in the "good light" in the kitchen fiddling with my jewelry on a fairly regular basis is definitely one of them. :wink2:

I'm a scrub nurse, so hand and wrist jewellery is a no-no. We are allowed to wear a wedding ring that must be removed before we scrub, so to work I wear my 4mm YG band with scattered diamonds. I love it, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if I accidently left it in my scrubs and lost it (a girl at work lost her entire wedding set this way [engagement, wedding and eternity rings]... she called the laundry but never saw them again :errrr:). I love earrings and happily wear whatever I am allowed to (studs, hoops and secure, small dangles) and occasionally a necklace. When I'm not at work, whenever I leave the house my eternity ring, wedding band and e-ring always come with me, and usually my tennis bracelet. I love my pieces too much to leave them at home when I actually do have the chance to wear them!

I don't wear mine while I shower, cook, sleep, garden, etc. but I do wear everything I have, just not all at one time. I wear either my ering/wb or my eternity band and my studs. I have to admit, I wear my eternity band more than my ering, just because it's more understated, but when we go out, I love to wear my ering/wb!

I'm one that also wears hers all the time! I do take them off when I put lotion on, but that's about it. My fingers swell in the mornings so if I took them off at night, I wouldn't be able to get them off! :D As a result, though, there has been some damage to my ER, but I had it fixed. Am still hoping for an upgrade in the future, in that case my original ER will go into hiding and I'll wear new bling! But until then, I'll wear most of what I've got. :D

Pretty much everywhere...I started not wearing my rings while playing tennis and walking the dogs. I didn't want to press my luck with eternity bands and halo ering.
Not to bed, not in the shower.

I for the most part only wear a band at home, but if I go out somewhere I throw on some of the bling, it depends on where I am going, but I always have at least 2 blingy rings on when I go out. If I am going to a nice restaurant or something along those lines, I pull out the stops and really bling it up!

I take my ER and earrings off at bedtime but keep my (plain) band on. Otherwise, I pretty much wear my jewelry all the time - to work, at home, to the store, cooking, cleaning, etc. If I know we have super creepy clients coming in I'll remove my ER and put it in my purse until they leave the office.

I wear mine pretty much all the time. I only take my rings off to clean them, but I do rotate my diamond earrings and pendants with other jewelry. I'm definitely someone who believes jewelry should be worn and enjoyed as much as possible. I wear my wedding set to work every day. I work in public interest, but most of the women in my office wear their diamond rings daily. The only time my jewelry goes into the safe deposit box is when I travel internationally.

I wear my Tahitian pearl necklace and 2ctw studs or Tahitian earrings only when I have an event to go to, otherwise I rarely wear expensive jewelry (not engaged yet). The only 'jewelry' I wear daily is my Lange & Sohne Grand Saxonia. Since very few people know its worth unless they are watch aficionados, it doesn't get much notice, which is fine by me!

I wear my rings to work every day, and whenever I'm away from home. I would leave them at home only if I was involved in an activity that might make them vulnerable to loss or damage.

I never wear my rings to bed. Even if I can't damage them, they could easily be smudged up and get dirty. I never wear them in the shower or bath; more than getting soap scum underneath the diamonds, I would worry about the ease with which they could slip off my finger and down the drain.

I usually take them off at home, just so I'm not wearing them when I need to wash my hands, use any chemicals, etc.

I wear jewellery when I go out or if we have people over.

I've never found it comfortable to wear rings all the time and my 2-year-old likes to remove my jewellery and play with it (I found one of my pad sapphire earrings in her dungarees pocket the other day!)

I don't wear them while I sleep, shower, clean, cook, do dishes, wash my hands or go camping. I put my jewelry on before I leave in the morning and wear it until about 9 or 10 at night (except for above) when I clean them and put them up. Each night I pick out what jewelry I want to wear tomorrow and get it out and then dress accordingly.

I need a 'LIKE' emotie!!

I generally wear my jewelry almost everywhere. I don't wear it in the shower b/c I don't want soap and gunk on it. I don't wear my excess rings or chains in bed a) b/c the rings will get stuck on my swollen knuckles and b) I don't want to break my chains. If I'm on the boat, or going to be around water, I'll skip extra rings or earrings with no backs. Otherwise, it's always on.
