Around here all the holiday lights and trees will be lit tomorrow for thanksgiving. When the kids were small we would put up our tree after dinner. This year we are traveling so we are only putting up a tiny tree.
Actually, today I was thinking of hanging a red berry wreath on my front hall mirror.
I've had the wreath for a few years now and, because it doesn't scream Christmas, I like to put it up early and leave it up for most (all) of Winter.
I don't put out a lot of decorations, and they don't go up as early as I'd like.
I'm not organized enough.
Look...it's *possible* that this is going on at my house.... But normally I put up about 5 trees, so this is just the tip of the iceberg and kind of like the 'amuse-bouche' of Christmas trees at my house.
Awww, I can hear the Christmas music and imagine curling up on the couch in front of the fireplace.
I do love Christmas.
Thank you for starting this thread.

Funny we normally don't put the tree up until the weekend after Thanksgiving. This year though I decided to just get all the stuff out of the attic and set it up so then we can just enjoy the actual decorating of the tree. So we have our Thanksgiving decorations on the table and front door and the tree is lit in the living room with Santa and snowmen and all the other Christmas decor. It's kind of a racket.
We will put up the tree probably Christmas Eve. We generally spend the last 2 weeks in December at our beach house and will put the tree up during that time. We don't do live trees anymore and instead have a very nice artificial tree that cannot make the cats sick and looks darn good. And so much easier and so much less mess with 4 kitties running rampant in the house. No regrets about buying this tree a few years ago.
From last year 2016 Christmas with Sir Tommy underneath the tree waiting for Santa.
He messed it up but I took a photo anyway. Such a rascal that Tommy.
Artificial tree.
hehe what a little rascal from 2014 the first year of the artificial tree
What usually goes on top of the tree instead of Tommy...
And while I miss the smell of the real evergreen tree we have Christmas cookies baking that time of year so the house is generally filled with yummy baking smells so we don't miss the smell of the tree.
Found a pic the year before we got the artificial tree. Last year of real Christmas Tree 2013.
At our NY apartment.

Nov 1! I decorate a lot and since we don't host thanksgiving I would rather take my time. I like to totally enjoy the season and if I feel rushed it's just not as fun.

@ceg - seriously - I have 'found my tribe' in you!
Here's my house, tho I still have a couple of trees to go up....
And this was my Christmas table from a year or two ago. Last year was very quiet, with the death of my dog, and this year will be somewhat subdued for the same reason, but this photo is an example of the norm for us. The little ornaments are all characters from The Twelve Days of Christmas.
Austina, not even a little bit? I will if you will.
Last year I bought a white tree and ornamments on sale at Target at the last minute. Seeing the lights made me happy.
I’ve started buying trees, then donating them to the thrift shop so I don't have to store anything, so I would be starting from scratch again this year. It might be nice to keep up traditional rituals even if no one else sees them?
My oldest daughter does all my decorating. I'm not approved to use even a chair to stand on, lol! Usually we do it Dec. 1st, but will do it a bit earlier this year. Our TG is in October, so there is some separation.
Edit: All our neighbours seem to have beat us to the exterior stuff this year. That has to wait until DH is home. He's been gone for almost a month.
I love the holidays! We usually decorate after Thanksgiving. Here are a few pics from my house. I usually do two or three trees. Last year I got a skinny rose gold tree from Target but Im not sure how to decorate it yet.
The saturday before the first advent sunday (if that's after December 1 st, I'll do it before, since part of the deco is our home made advent calendar for the kids that goes up our stairs).
This deco includes the advent wreath (real pine, real candles) to count down to Christmas, some more wreaths for the doors, red & white flowers ( amaryllis / Christmas rose..)
The tree with nativity scene is put up 2/3 days before Christmas eve and decorated just before the gift giving on Christmas eve.
Real tree with candles for us.. freaks out the French in laws
