At what size, weight actually, do you feel a diamond is a honker?

I'd say 4 carat.

I don't think my 2.26 honks, though it can make some noise.

the size bigger than what I have..

Hehe.

Actually I think the Honking starts at about double what we each have.

Ditto this! Mine was a carat and anything bigger certainly caught my eye - though a really sparkly one in any size could still toot in my direction lol.

Any size that is clean and well cut honks. I''ve seen some half carat stones make some 4 carat stones disappear.

hehehe Honk Honk... er Beep, Beep? My 1.3 pear ---> toot, toot
It doesn''t have to be ginormous to be honkin (to me, anyway)... I''d say 2ct +
A 2ct on a size 4 finger looks HUGE (and honkin)

I change my mind.... it''s relative to finger size!

Depends where you are, too. Where I live, anything bigger than about 80 points beeps a little, a carat and a half honks out loud. Assuming they sparkle, of course.

One of my lecturers has what looks like around 1.5ct rb solitaire, with really nice studs probably around the same cttw. Her rhr is a 3 stone bezel rb ring to die for, I''m guessing around 1.5cttw, maybe 2? I have no idea what she talks about for two hours a week. I can''t hear her over the honking!

I chose to have a carved wedding band with a row of diamonds in the center, ten 10 pointers for a total of one carat. To me any well cut solitaire honks! Of course whenever I go into a jewelry store everybody gathers around to see my ring too

which is proof that you don't need four carats to HONK

Kenny, you'd have to clean the drool off your asscher if I ever got to see it in person

To me, depending on finger size, a 1.5 or 2+ ct honks.

It could be any size if it really stops and makes me do a double take. And something I don't see every day. I would say 2.5ct and up definitely makes some noise, though a smaller well cut stone could do some honking too!

I think it really depends on finger size, also... I consider anything over 3 carats to be a very large stone, a "rock." Anything under is something you could see everyday, which is not to say they aren''t stunning and lovely stones... but 3+ carats = honker, IMO. Much more rare. This forum has plenty of 2.5+ stones but very few over 3 carats. Seems to be the magic number!

depends on finger coverage, and the cut of the diamond.

i think someone with a size 4.5 or less with a 7.4mm 1.5ct round/ 2.0ct cushion would honk if it was ags000.

When do they honk? Well, probably when people cut them off in traffic . . . ba-dum-bum!

Ummmm, any size that causes the owner to post almost daily about their ring, and causes them to constantly mention the carat weight, and uhhh, makes you want to say to them "enough already, it''s a rock, we get that, STHU woman - surely there''s more to your life than your ring".

Want to call someone out? I think this is a really odd and passive-aggressive post.

I assume it's me.

Maybe I should take the hint.

I will mention my stone's weight when it is relevant to a discussion since I would not expect everyone to memorize such details about everyone's rocks.

I LOVE your unique asscher, kenny, and I never get sick of seeing it. Keep posting pics. I always appreciate when people put in the carat weight of their stone because then it saves me the trouble of asking. I always like seeing specs (and diamonds).

Thanks Gleam.
I do sometimes worry that I'm a bling-loudmouth, then there's the wild and weird photography and all.

Nope, not you at all Kenny. You don''t post daily about your diamond.
If I wanted to name someone, I would have.

Thanks Purrfectpear.

Actually someone who wants to post about their diamond "too much" came to the right place.
We are diamondholics here. (Now WHEN is my next upgrade?)

Irish you crack me up as usual.

I think 3.5 and above is honkin''. I would love to have a honkin'' something one day. Something meaning diamond of course.

Perhaps everyone should just put thier carat weight in the signature area. Then the person irritating PP wouldnt have to post about it anymore. Then again if I had a honker I might want to post about it daily too.

To me, honking starts at 5 carats. And there is nothing at all wrong with a big honkin diamond!!!

It all depends on the cut... One thing I learned here on PS :)

When I think "HONK" I think of like... the tasteful non-tacky diamond version of Dolly Parton or Cher.

Big, bold, beautiful and just all about presence.

I KNOW I have irritated people when I got my pear - but I was excited and was happy to share my joy with people of this forum since it is a DIAMOND forum and we all talk, discuss and show... well, diamonds. I never get irritated when I read about people's jewelry... It's really fun!! So if people get annoyed with that others share, then why coming to it?

Why would anyone be on a diamond forum if people gushing about their diamonds bugs them? Isn't this kind of like Carats Anonymous?
