Just curious when your Christmas decorations are going up this season. I usually start decorating around Thanksgiving time. But this year, Thanksgiving seems to be the last week of the month.

So I've been trying to clean up and get ready to put the decorations out sooner than Thanksgiving only because we are getting screwed out of our yuletide decoration season. If I wait until Thanksgiving time, it will already be December!! I wanted to get decorating started ASAP but just haven't had a chance yet!!! I am a HUGE Christmas person, so decorating for Christmas is something I look forward too all year long. I just can't believe its the 13th already!!!

Yikes! I need to get my act together! (and fast)

I want to decorate NOW.

Haha. But FI would be like

if I did that. He says he''s "fighting for Thanksgiving" since everyone has skipped over it and gone straight to selling Christmas stuff. But um how much Thanksgiving decorations do people really put up? Occasional fall-type stuff as well as turkeys..aside from that I don''t get what he''s talking about.

Maybe I can convince FI to get on board next weekend.

Otherwise..after Thanksgiving - first week of December.

Everything goes up the day after Thanksgiving!

You know what I''m thankful for? CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS. lol

(bad I know..but so true)

I would love to start decorating now but I always have Thankgiving at my house so nothing inside is going up until the day after Thanksgiving. My hubby will probably start the outside decorating the week of Thanksgiving so that he can have the rooflines and high stuff done before the weather gets too bad. We won''t light anything though until the day after Thanksgiving.

I want to start decorating ASAP! I love Christmas...everything about it! I wish they would start playing 24/7 Christmas songs on the radio already...which usually start the day after Thanksgiving.

I was sooo excited that the Family channel was going to start their "25 Days of Christmas" special early....As I said I love everything about Christmas and cheesy Christmas love story movies go right along with that

Italia posted the same question a few days ago Link

For me, I like to put them up late December but FI likes after Thanksgiving. So we''re compromising and they''ll go up first or second week of December

OOOOOO I'm telling you! I start to listen to Christmas music on November 1st. And Christmas movies.....I have a HUGE collection of them. Yes, I watch them all. It's a tradition for me. I usually kick off my Christmas movie watching around mid November (so..soon) and we usually start with National Lampooon's Christmas Vacation and from there go straight into Home Alone, then Rudolph and all the rest from there.....But for the 25 Days of Christmas, I usually try to catch what I can (of what I don't have) while that is going on.

That reminds me, FF got a Christmas tree DVD from the library. It's all about trees. We actually watched that last week. This one guy in NYC has trees he starts to decorate in October in every room of his house with different themes. I told FF I want to do that someday with tons of trees like that in different rooms and then one big tree!!! (probably would decorate them in November though)

I told you I'm a Christmas freak. lol!

I will probably do it next weekend. we aren''t having thanksgiving at my house this year so it won''t matter if the tree is up a little early.

ok, I posted on the other thread Italia had, but..

I am almost completely done inside. I''d estimate I''ve had boxes out for about a week and I know I worked solid for about 4 days. Why I do this much is beyond me, but it does look nice. I have somewhat of a system. All decor stuff goes into huge plastic tubs, marked according to room. Inside each tub in a rough sketch of where things go.
I have my main tree (huge) yet to do inside.
Outside will wait til the day after TG if I can wait that long.

I saw this post when I decided to take a break from working on my fairy tree. (Mark Roberts fairies I''ve collected over the years) What else to do with ''em!!

Last night I went the Houston Nutcracker Market Preview Party. The market is the largest Christmas market in the country, with hundreds of vendors. All who fight for any open slot.
Anyway, the market is open for 4 days, with thousands of women attending. Some rent limos and make a day of it. It is so crowded you can barely get into a booth, much less buy anything. So this year I shelled out 150.00 for a ticket to go the night before they open to the public. What a treat!! Shopping with ease, first picks on stuff, wonderful food and drink (free) and did I mention no crowds! ;)

Oh, (am I getting carried away here or what) is anyone else into battery operated candles like I am this year? Some are just ok, but I bought 2 at a local interior design shop and they are wonderful. They even have a built-in timer - will turn themselves on/off. Great for high up places you can''t get to every night!

Back to work....

Day after Thankgiving! (That will be at my parents'' house.) Later that weekend, our decorations go up in our apartment. Even thought they''re not as lavish, they bring me lots of holiday cheer!

I think I''m going to start Saturday because we''re going to be in Georgia and Alabama for Thanksgiving, so I want to get started early.

Mine are up already!! We have "early" Thanksgiving at our house on 11/17 for our friends that work on Thanksgiving day and hubby likes to decorate early. The cat is loving it too, having a blast swatting at the decorations

I will start the first week of December.

We''re decorated for Thanksgiving right now but we''re going to incorporate Christmas in slowly over the next couple weeks but only on the inside. Then on the day after Thanksgiving we''re gonna take all Thanksgiving down and finish putting the rest of Christmas up. That way we can enjoy both holidays and Christmas won''t be short changed. It''s my FAV holiday!

Last year I did EVERYTHING the day after Thanksgiving (for the first time ever)...and it seemed anti-climactic by the time I actually got to Christmas. This year, I made up a little calendar for one thing per day until Christmas - just something small and fun to do every day. Lights and wreaths are going up early, the tree goes up in the middle of the month, stockings aren't going on the mantle until a week before (last year, our cats knocked them down constantly anyway).

ETA: On Sirius/XM there's already a Holiday music station going :)

The middle of December, if we end up getting any decorations.

I don''t decorate for Christmas. I''ve put up a mini-tree three days before Christmas last year. I just don''t do holidays for the most part.

I just saw my first Christmas tree on the way home last night. Looks like people are getting started early with their decorating!

For Thanksgiving I slap a berry wreath (its orangegy-red) on my door and buy some little pumpkins for the mantle...thats it.

For Christmas, I wait until the first weekend in December. Then I go all out with candles, cards, and decorations. Two weeks before Christmas, the tree! My favorite part is getting my tree!!! Coincidentally, that's my BF's least favorite. He just likes to looking at it after the fact. Boy do I ever make him work!!!
27.gif

ETA: I neglected to mention that I love my trees so much that I usually don't take them down until mid-january!!! Is that shameful? I think one year it was pushing February!!! We were so embarrassed to take it outside that we ended up taking it out after midnight so no one would see us. The only problem was that the tree was so brittle by then, we left our trail EVERYWHERE and ended up spending over an hour picking up pine needles!!!

I don''t think I''ll be doing in any decorating this year. We are in the process of negotiations for a new house, which should be settled by today or Monday (yay!) and closing will be on December 19th if everything goes as planned. There''s no point in going all out just to pack it up and move before Christmas. We might put up a small table tree or garland, but all the little stuff is staying packed away this year. It''ll be worth it though, even though I''ll miss having a regular sized tree.

I usually decorate the first week of December, when we''re not buying a house lol!

I''m done inside. I''m thinking about doing the outside this weekend.

Opinions, is it too early?

probably this weekend...if not, then right after thanksgiving. i can't believe it's almost december!

bebe- i don't think it's too early at all. we have neighbors who had their outside christmas lights up before halloween!

I already put some decorations out (not the tree yet) and FI thought I was crazy! He would like to wait until after Thanksgiving, but this is our first year in our house together, so we don''t have that much of any decorations to begin with! I''ve been pestering him to put out the Christmas lights before the weather gets too awful, so I think he may do that tomorrow but we most likely won''t turm them on until after next week!
I have seen houses around here with their lights up and on already, and even Christmas trees in the windows! We will be getting a real tree though so if we did it now, it would be only a pile of needles by the time Christmas came!

Christmas lights before Halloween, wow, that''s pushing it.

I''ve decided to go ahead and do my outside today. I put lighted garlands on my 2nd story balconies, big red bells at about 5 points along each swag. The bells will be new this year, so I''m curious to see what they look like. I put wreaths on every french door across the front of my house. It all goes up very easy. The hard part is dragging it out of the attic.

I''ve had an idea in my head for a year, but can''t bring it to fruition. I want to make two 4foot red Christmas ornament ball trees, cone shape. But for the life of me, I can''t find a form to hot glue the ornaments on. I had searched every craft store in Houston! Even the internet. I think I will buy a cheap cone tree after Christmas to use as a base and make it next year. I want 2 of these trees in urns flanking my front door. I walked in J C Penney last week and behold they had them all over their store, of course the trees were their store decor, just wish I could have bought 2 of them.

Yeah, a bit early!

I'm putting my decorations up right after Thanksgiving because I do want to enjoy them for a full month before sticking them back in storage for another year. The only items I've already set out are some cinnamon apple candles, which seem appropriate for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We've also been cutting out paper snowflakes. They're so fun to make and opening each one is like receiving a gift because it's a suprise what it'll turn out like!

Oh and Christmas lights before Halloween is ridiculous, but doesn't suprise me. Around Halloween, Target had put Halloween and Christmas decorations in the SAME aisle. It's hard NOT to decorate early.
