1. Get a pita pocket.

2. Spread cream cheese on the inside.

3. Stuff it with turkey lunchmeat (or leftover Thanksgiving turkey if it''s around that time of year), cranberry sauce and shredded lettuce.

4. Nom nom nom nom nom!!!

I LOOOOOVE these things! There''s a local restaurant here that makes them, which is where I got the idea. They''re DELICIOUS and soooo easy to make at home!

April, I haven’t seen that show, but you’re right – it’d be exactly the sort of thing I’d enjoy! I''ll keep an eye out for it. Now pls explain what Boca is except for a city in Florida…
It''s a brand of soy burgers.

They make a breaded chicken one too and it''s pretty darn good!!

Tomato, mozzerella, and basil panini from Panera Bread. Yum

That sounds yummy. We just got a Panera Bread near us, will have to try one!!!

My favorite sandwich is from a NY style deli in my hometown. The store recently closed, but I love recreating the sandwich occasionally.

Prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and roasted red peppers on some type of artisan bread, either plain or with a little pesto. Mmmm...

ETA: Oooh, I thought of my other favorite. It's a Thanksgiving sandwich: turkey (real preferably, not deli), mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce on a wrap or again, on artisan bread. It might sound strange, but it's so good!

toasted plain bagel with smoked salmon and avocado... damn, this is making me hungry

I make these too!

I also love a good tuna melt with any type of cheese other than American (not a fan of American cheese).

Mmmmmm – great sandwiches!

The old egg sandwich is so overlooked – great to see it making a return, honey!

Corned beef on rye, avocado, cheese and mayo, and the ever faithful BLT are all good standards. Ditto any of your holiday sandwiches (anything involving post-Thanksgiving turkey!)

Smo, no wonder you liked NY if you were hanging out at Dean and Deluca’s!

Phoenix - I LOVE steak sandwiches – of every kind!

Maisie, do you like mayo? I love salad with meat sandwiches, but only with mayo (or smurfy’s mustard + mayo combo)

Reuben sandwiches are obviously popular. I have to admit, despite living in NY, I’ve never had one…. I’m thinking I’d better get around to it!

Lynnie, I really like potato bread too – and muffins! So much of a good sandwich depends on the bread.

I like the sound of the Vietnamese sandwiches, butterfly - but what on earth is ‘head cheese’??

MonkeyPie - I’m with you; if it’s got grilled onions, I’m in!

I love hot sandwiches – but they’re almost a different beast to your basic cold sandwich. I never met a hot sandwich that involved pork that I didn’t like. Virtually anything served in a panini style is an automatic winner with me. For me, the standard ham and swiss panini is coup d’etat for me.

Steph and Kaleigh - we have a Panera right next door to where we go to the movies and if you turn up with your movie ticket you get 10% off your bill. It’s a very short path from the cinema to Panera in that scenario!

Bia - what is a Cuban sandwich?

waterlily, I was right with you on the grinders…until the pickles. Just can’t throw my heart over on pickles on sandwiches.

swimmer and trillionaire, nutella is the only filling I know which is better without the sandwich! Serve it up…with a spoooon!

What’s in vegan mayo, MC?

And Irishgrrrl, I’m definitely making your sandwich – yum!

But PaulaW - I think your chicken, roasted pepper, spinach, basil and fresh mozzarella in a wrap takes the prize for me. Oh man – YUMMMM!

I LOVE bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. You can add cheese if you want to. Basically a BLT with Avocado :) YUMMY!

I love hot grilled chicken sliced, swiss cheese or a spicy cheese, romaine lettuce, onions, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers and honey mustard. If it''s on Texas Toast, even better!!

There are some interesting combos on here!!

I don''t know if you really want to know, lol. I don''t actually know if the sandwiches have these in them, but here is what head cheese is:

Head cheese (AmE) or Brawn (BrE) is a cold cut originating in Europe. Another version pickled with vinegar is known as souse. Head cheese is not a cheese but a meat jelly made with pieces from the head of a calf or pig (sometimes a sheep or cow) in aspic. It may contain onion, black pepper, allspice, bay leaf, salt, and vinegar. It may also include meat from the feet, tongue, and heart. It is usually eaten cold or at room temperature as a luncheon meat.

Oh, I love sandwiches.

For cold, my fave is the DC Chicken Salad on steakhouse rye from Corner Bakery. I refuse to look at the nutritional information because I just don''t want to know!

A great hot panini is ham, gruyere, and fig spread. Delish.

A really good Club sandwich is also sublime.

At home I load up my sandwiches with lots of shredded carrots and cabbage. Adds wonderful crunch and some veggies!

Peanut butter (preferably crunchy) and pickle (preferably bread & butter).

I''m serious.

And no, it''s not gross.

I''ve been eating them since I was a little kid- introduced to me by my uncle. If you google the combo you''ll find that quite a few others eat them, many with mustard (Yuck.) I probably eat one a week. Sometimes I just slather peanut butter on a pickle spear.

I think the only way someone would dislike this sandwich is if they didn''t like pickles or peanutbutter to begin with. My DH is hooked on them now as well. Yummm.

This thread makes me so, so, so hungry. Especially at the mention of avocado

Mmmm sammiches. My favorite place for specialty sandwiches is Ike''s Place. They have some crazy insane concoctions. Their menu is not for the faint hearted. Also, there is a deli in my hood that sells something called the The Korean Steak Sandwich (Garlic aioli, juicy, thin marinated ribeye, pickled, grilled and fresh onions, crunchy vinegary pickled jalapenos, shredded lettuce and a layer of hot sauce). It might be better than chocolate or sex. (I''m kidding! A little)

I also love a good BLT. And any kind of egg sandwich. And I mean any kind! Boiled, fried, baked, "salad"ed, I DON''T CARE.

I swear I''m not high right now!

Wow, somethingshiny! that’d clear the sinuses!

sillyberry - ham, gruyere and fig – YUM!

butterfly, thanks for the ‘heads up’, so to speak! Will be staying away from that one!

Hi cakeny - I love sandwiches...but I love cake better! Great name – and great sandwich suggestions!

heraanderson - no guacamole?

No, I love guacamole if it''s made fresh, hasn''t sat more than 1 hours, with no weird/overpowering filler ingredients. Can you tell I''m serious about my avocados?!

got it, hera - no *weird" guacamole. just good guacamole. got it :)

Marks and Spencer Bacon and Egg sandwich. I'd draw blood for one of those right now!

I can't read all of this thread, it's making me too hungry!

Tuna, potato, carrots, celery and mayonese

A nice ham and cheddar on French bread from Atlanta Bread Co.

Anything with grilled chicken and pesto, warm and delicious!

Croque Monsieur . MMMMMMMM There''s a cafe, across the river from Notre Dame in Paris and they make THE BEST croque monsieur. Theirs is basically just a slice of bread, piled with ham and Melted Cheese, served open faced. You have to eat it with a fork. Oh so good.

Ok now who''s gonna pay for my airfare so that I can get my hands on one of these for lunch.

Tempeh Reubens! Had one last night! Much, much better when DH makes them at home than at the local diner where we first had them. Sometimes the diner''s reubens are GREAT, sometimes underwhelming. DH''s are always the best!
