Hi All,

I have been watching JTV and HSN and have noticed they both have small blue spotlights on their gems & jewelry. Once I could see the reflection of the lights clearly on HSN and you can see them on JTV when they show Aquamarine and the good sparkly blue on the tanzanite appears to be these blue spotlights. They also use white, but do you think its right that they ap-pear to be enhancing the color of stones with the blue light.? In fact the hosts on JTV point out these lights as good color in aquamarines. I cannot think of any other purpose to these lights. First I thought they were using it for diamonds but then saw it was used for a lot of stones.
Can anybody think of an explanation? Would love to hear it.

Thanks,
Annette

The spot lighting could be used to make the stones sparkle as multiple pin point light source is best to bring out dispersion and brilliance. As for the blue bulbs, it’s a possibility that it is used to make the stone bluer than they really are

very interesting..wouldn''t put it past them to try some funny business..also could be a blue filter added onto the halogen bulbs to balance out the amount of blue coming out..since blue and violet scatters easily sometimes a blue cover or filter is added to balance out the blue with the other colors of the spectrum..don''t know if thats to make a more sun-like look or what..very interesting..
