On the left is the same that computer that I have, an apple 24" iMac.
On the right is the same computer, but there is some box thingie that the base goes into.
What is that, and what does it do?

Thanks.
Yes, the iMac's screen angle is adjustable.
It pivots in the back where the base attaches to the screen.
And the mystery box can't be to raise the iMac up because:
1. In the OP pic, compare the space under the screen, the mystery box is taking up much of that space.
2. They do make bases to raise the iMac higher: notice the iMac's base rests on top of the riser; but the bottom of the base is fully inside the mystery box.
I suspect it has some operational function, maybe an audio interface.
iMacs already have a built in microphone, so there is no mic input jack.
But to get higher quality audio, she's using a professional broadcaster mic, which cannot plug directly into the iMac.
The mystery box may have that unique 3-prong audio input jack and an output UBS-C jack to connect the fancy mic's audio to the iMac.
Kind of odd in the fact there is the black power cord on the left feeding into it. Apple power cords are white even on space grey/black models — at least for the MacBooks I’ve owned.
Almost looks like a “bread box” like my grandma had, except to hide all your computer junk. Also curious if they are running an Apple display (or knockoff) with Mac mini or some other PC branded mini computer. Overall design seems clunky for an Apple product, so likely 3rd party.
