what''s the secrect of posting a sharp picture of your avatar..

i have a nikon 5200 ,before i upload the picture it really looks sharp, after i upload it''s blurry, see my avatar. any help, appreciated.

Is the picture prefectly square in its dimensions (or pretty close)?

PS I still think "mind clean" is the greatest...

you have to resize it before you upload it. I use 96x96 but I think 40x44 is what Leonid suggests? if I resize it and there is empty space, I just put a black background behind it.

It's tricky, I wasn't able to get mine perfect, and my face looks kind of wide in my avitar.

Innerkitten, I have always meant to say that your avatar looks like Barbara Streisand. I wasn't sure if that was you in the avatar or not.
