somebody more expert than me will have to give you a technical con if their is one.....I went with the Open Cathedral also but not the petite simply because I wanted the band to be wider to show more of the diamond pave on the band itself. I thought the 1.5 was simply way too thin from a purely aesthetic viewpoint. The one I chose is 3mm.
If the woman works with her hands at all, then I would not recommend a thin band like that. It''s pretty and looks delicate but can easily be broken with pressure.
Generally speaking, many vendors don''t like to make rings under 2mm or so due to the risk of damage to the setting. It''s more prone to being bent out of shape, basically.
That said, there are ways to help avoid that (increased height off the finger, etc.), and WF is a respected vendor, so if they are selling the setting they''ve most likely done what they can as far as bolstering the setting''s integrity. If you''re worried, though, you can always talk through it with them to see whether it fits the wearer''s lifestyle.
The underneath of my setting is super thin too 1.5? and I have never had a problem with bending or anything. I think that setting is gorgeous and will make your center stone "pop".
ps. I answered your question about my center stone in the post "Help Calm me down" by Diddy
