What''s the diiference between 14k Gold and 18k gold?

18K has a higher gold content than 14K. Can''t say exactly what percentage though, hth.
 
14k is 14/24 gold. This comes to just over 58%
18k is 18/24 gold. This comes to 75%

You can use the same formula to figure out 10k, 22k, or any other karatage.

For yellow colored metal the remainder is usually a mixture of silver and copper.

24 karat (or carat if you like) is 100%, so 14 & 18 are fractions. 9k is more common as a cheaper alternative to 18k outside of the US. People from Asian countries traditionally go for 22k but there is a growing trend away from that towards white metals.

Interestingly, you can add a few percent of copper to gold and the resulting alloy is harder then both copper and gold. Gold is alloyed because pure gold is too soft.
