What's the Biggest Diamond You'd Wear on a Ring

It's really complicated. I think that if I wore a 2 carat ring or larger, people would definitely think it was fake. I don't think I've ever seen anything above 1.5 carats in my area (the southern part of the US), and only a handful of those. I would also be concerned about someone mugging me.

I live in WV and people even used to comment that my .95 novo was a huge frickin' rock. Now I have a 2 ct OEC that faces up like 2.5. NO ONE comments on it like they did my novo. My fiance says it's so big people assume it's fake. Maybe you are better off that way. Who is gonna mug you for costume jewelry? Seriously though, stay safe and carry mace. It sounds like you've had to deal with some real creeps.

Ha, that's a good point! I guess I'm just afraid that they might think that there was a chance it was real, so they would still mug me. Of course, they could still mug me for a smaller diamond, or for something else entirely.

Oh, and I definitely carry mace with me now! :)

Ummm 50 carats. 51 carats in a fancy shape ;)

No really.. I'd gladly wear a 10, 12, 14, 16+ carat diamond if I could afford one. I LOVEEEE staring into diamonds. The bigger the better :) I am really past the point of caring what people say. Eff it. I'd wear one on BOTh ring fingers, and a pendant, and 10ctw earrings... :D :D

Depends on the shape. I couldn't wear a RB that larger than, say, 1.5, and I'd prefer smaller. For an EC or an OMC I can probably go up to a 2. Other than that...I might go larger if it's a rose cut, but anything flashier would make me feel uncomfortable. For me it's not a safety issue, but I just prefer things are that understated.

I have no limits. If the stone can be set into a ring, I'll wear it regardless of size.

Ya know what. Diamonds above a carat are so rare where I live, I bet I'd be safer sporting a 3 than a 1 ct rock as literally everyone would think it's fake.

A 5ct RB would be quite happy on my hand.

For where I live my 1ct RB is large. I think the largest I would wear without feeling uncomfortable is a 2.5 RB or a 2 ct pear.

As long as I still find it beautiful and it isn't too heavy so I can still lift my arm, I'd wear it.

I wouldn't worry about looking like a show off. Besides, if it's big enough, then everyone will just assume it's fake.
  I so agree with you. Most people will probably think it's fake. But me I have no problem with a really big diamond on my finger

When I was living in Singapore, I'd have said 4 carats tops.

Now that I'm living in Delhi where I regularly see 2 over carats per ear on the ladies who lunch/shop here, in fact, I just saw one today...I think so long as I can comfortably lift my finger when wearing it, no diamond will ever be too big. But realistically speaking, 5 carat round, 7 carat EC would be perfect. LOL.

I have small hands, so I think anything over 1.5-maybe 2 cts. would look silly. I'd probably say closer to 1.5 most likely, but I don't think that will ever happen. My husband's extremely sentimental...

I tried on an emerald cut paired with step cut traps - the center emerald cut was sort of squat, and right around 4 ct. or just a hair under. I think that was the largest I could ever go, but it was breathtaking.

However, I'd never wear it to the office, so I think realistically, the largest I'd go on my own hand would be a 2-2.5 ct. asscher or emerald cut or a 1.5 ct. round. I loved wearing IWPO's engagement ring - it felt HUGE to me! But it felt comfortable for daily activities.

I think a 4ct would be my limit.

Round 4ct (I have fat fingers)

other squarish shapes: maybe 6ct or 7ct

Hey,
What would you say is the average in Singapore, roughly?

I think about 4ct in a RB and 5ct in a cushion or radiant (however, as I've never had the chance to try them on, I might have to revise that). Anyone want to send me theirs for a trial run?? Hehe...

I'd say 2ct in a round and maybe 2.5-3ct in an asscher would be my ideals :)
