What's the Biggest Diamond You'd Wear on a Ring

Assuming price is no object. I mean they say bigger is better, but wouldn't you feel foolish or like a show off if you wore a golf ball sized diamond ring?

As long as I still find it beautiful and it isn't too heavy so I can still lift my arm, I'd wear it.

I wouldn't worry about looking like a show off. Besides, if it's big enough, then everyone will just assume it's fake.

If it were that big, I'd rather wear it as something else.

I have good coverage with my current stone. I also haven't really tried on any big rocks. I can't imagine going larger than 3 without feeling really self conscious about it. I'm also extremely klutzy, so I'd probably be knocking anything that large on everything.

I really like my current 2.5 and I rarely knock it against anything. I think the biggest I would go is maybe a 3 but I've never seen one on my finger so I cant say for sure because the 2.5 already looks pretty big and a 3 might be pushing it..

I said 1 till I had it. Now I think 2.
DSS strikes again

3 carats, and only because my chubby fingers can pull it off, hah.

I could do a 6 carat without any concern!

I have a size 9 finger, so that makes a huge difference in finger coverage for me!

At about 10 carats, I think it would look "too big" for a solitaire for my size finger.... but I think 5-6 carats isn't too big especially with the shapes that face up small to begin with....

Depends on the shape.

Round: 2

Cushion: 3

Asscher: 4

Pear: 2.5

Emerald: 3

Don't like stones more than the width of my finger. Size 4.75 so can still pull off a largish stone.

Seven carat, light pinkish brown (GIA P), transitional cut

Ok I'll make an exception for that one uppy!

Dear Uppy,

May I please borrow the seven carat diamond? I promise I will take good care of it and give it lots of love. Or, if you ever go on vacation and need someone to feed it, I would be happy to help.

Sincerely,
ChloeTheGreat

I would give anything Elizabeth Taylor owns/owned a go.

Especially The Krupp diamond at 33.19. I'd give that a go on the school run any day!

In real life, if I could ever, ever afford it, probably never more than 3. :wavey:

Probably 3 - 3.5 carats. Maaaybe 4 carats max. It would be set into a simple 6 prong solitaire so as not to be too showy.

Round 2 ct
Asscher 3 ct

I think for me personally 1.50 ish is the largest I'd go. I have small hands, and large showy stones don't really fit my lifestyle, nor my personality. I actually really like small delicate stones. I have a .30 odd marquis and I have the .32 emerald cut, both of which I adore and look beautiful on my fingers. They don't overwhelm my hands. I'm hoping for around 1.00 for my engagement ring when that far off day comes.

I don't think I'd go bigger than 1.5 with a round, I just prefer fancy cuts for bigger shapes. With a cushion I could probably go up to 2.5... ha the thought of that is funny cause it will NEVER happen. Fingers crossed for finding a 2.5 ct diamond on the sidewalk.

I would say 2ct would be about max, I have large short fingers and 2ct would look nice..but then again I said that about 1ct till I got one :errrr:

I'm hoping my little jeweler man gives me that in his will. I go in and visit it every so often. He says, "Are you going to take it home today?" I tell him, "Sure! You'll take a personal check, right?"

Well, I wouldn't throw away a 5+ carat stone if one were given to me, but probably 2 is about the biggest I would feel comfortable with. Ive noticed a trend of lots of women around my area wearing only wedding bands these days.

While I don't have any size restrictions per se, given my current "place in life," I think my 1.5 is actually sort of the perfect size. I can see myself rocking maaaaaaaaaaaybe another carat as the years pass, but unless I write the next academic bestseller, I don't see it being all that appropriate to go bigger.

6 carats. No joke.

right now, under 3ct in a round. Give it ten years.

Given my small hands, I'd say a two carat diamond if I'm also wearing a band. Three carats if I'm wearing a right hand ring. Anything bigger might be overwhelming on me. Like the ring is wearing me! ;))

Hmm. Probably 5 carats for an engagement ring. But to a ball, I think the upper limit would be around 20 ct in a fabulous cocktail ring .

It's really complicated. I think that if I wore a 2 carat ring or larger, people would definitely think it was fake. I don't think I've ever seen anything above 1.5 carats in my area (the southern part of the US), and only a handful of those. I would also be concerned about someone mugging me.

I think these issues are even more concerning for me, because I am a petite woman, and I look younger than my age ( I am 5'0" and in my 20s, but someone recently asked me if I was even 18 yet!). I really think that many people do not take me very seriously because they think I'm a teenager (so I doubt they would think a large diamond was real), and creepy men usually see me as an easy target, and might possibly try to steal it.

I have actually been followed around by weird men on several occasions - I believe one of them was later on America's Most Wanted, although he had already fled the town that I was from, and they were looking for him elsewhere. Another guy that tried to lure me close to his car was later put on an alert list at my university, because he was reported by many girls. Yet another guy followed me around at Wal-Mart even when I told him I wasn't interested, and when I told him I was still in high school (I wasn't). When I left, I pressed myself up against the wall of the store. I saw him looking for me in the parking lot, but he eventually gave up and left.

So yeah, trouble seems to follow me. I guess that might come with being small and having a young/naive look, but I wouldn't want to risk it further by sporting a very large (especially for this area) diamond.

I am wearing the biggest I could pull on my fingers. anything bigger would look obscene and quite ridiculous on my small hand...

I am quite happy with my set :)

6 carats in a fancy cut, 5 carats in an RB.

In a round, 3 ct. I recently tried on a 3.5+ OEC ring. While it was gorgeous, it looked positively ridiculous on me.

I have small size 4 hands and I think I would do 4 ct in round and 7 ct in fancy. I'd love for a krupp-like diamond around 7ct someday. I'm having a ring made w/ a 7.5 tourmaline asscher and that will satisfy my step cut lust in the meantime.

I was wearing my HUGE double halo emerald that's like a 2ct emerald with 3ct of diamond halo (maybe 120% finger coverage) and my family was a bit aghast as how big and blingy it was and my Aunt goes, "Actually, I just bought a 76ct ring!" (topaz). I asked her if she would be getting a wagon to assist her in lugging her hand around. :D

Hmmmm...in an asscher 5ct, in an antique cushion or OMC 4ct. In an OEC/Transitional, I don't think I'd go over 3.5

Of course, that's how I feel today - may change my mind later!
