Can anyone recommend a cleaner for my engagement ring? Any specific brand of a sonic cleaner or anything else that might work?

i use the cleaner that came with my ring from whiteflash... not sure of the brand, i''ll have to look... but i can say that i am totally obsessed with cleaning it... i never wear it in the shower or while im cooking so it doesn''t get smudged... and i clean it every morning! hehe, if only i was like that about my living room!!

You got a cleaner from Whiteflash?!?!? Did it come with your ring? I''m asking b/c I didn''t get one and we got my ring about 3 weeks ago.

I bought one off ebay a couple months ago and I love it. Its a digital ultrasonic cleaner. The seller is vital*spirit and the item #is 140118032084. It sells for 20.90 plus 14.90 to ship. I just add a little dishwashing liquid to the tank and water. It works beautifully. I wanted something small and somewhat attractive so it could sit on my sink for daily use. Hope this helps.

If you don''t have pave set stones on your ring, go with an ultra sonic. simple, easy, no manual labour...hehe. As for names I recommend the Sharper Image, but I think they went or are going out of business.

This is what our jewler uses.. It''s great.. Not the smallest and prettiest though..

Personally, I would never use an ultrasonic cleaner. I used to think the best jewelry cleaner was Wright''s. And it is really good. But I have recently discovered Sparkle that is sold in a spray bottle. This stuff is the best. I turn the water on really hot and then spray the sparkle and rinse the diamond in the hot water. (If the diamond has anything on it, then I use the toothbrush that comes with the Sparkle). Then I take a clean towel and pat the ring dry and then blow dry it on high heat so there won''t be any dried on water spots. I do this every day. If I really need the diamond to sparkle, I will steam it with my clothes steamer after I have cleaned the ring and rinsed it in the hot water. Then I will dry it with the dryer. I DO NOT use the hot water or the high heat setting on the dryer for my tanzanite ring. I only use this method for my diamond rings and earrings. For the tanzanite, I use warm water and cool air setting on the dryer. It works out great.

Isabelle, where do you buy this Sparkle?

does the ultra sonic not work well on pave settings??

An ultrasonic can knock the stones loose in a pave setting, due to the vibrating action of the ultrasonic. I have pave, and I needed a non-ultrasonic cleaner, so I recently bought Frontgate''s version of the Salton Jewelry Spa. I

It has a little electrochemical bath that your jewelry goes into. (This causes NO vibration at all . . . the water just fizzes.) Once you''ve finished that step, it has a little steam cleaner (similar to the Jewel Jet) that "blasts" the dirt off your ring. It works great, and leaves everything VERY sparkly!

Irish, I was under the impression that the Salton IS an US cleaner...

...only thing is i don''t personally think that its the best for deep cleanings if necessary... but for every day stuff, its great.

Hi Surfgirl! I got mine from Ben Gordon in Houston. He is a jewelry judge appraiser and he sells them in packages of 6. I LOVE it. He also sells a steamer for $99. I am thinking about getting it, but the way I clean my rings, I really don''t need it. LOL

Surfgirl ~ It''s not a US, and there is absolutely zero vibrating. It has what they call an "electrochemical bath" in the top. You put your jewelry in there and push the button, and the water will get "fizzy." (I''m not sure exactly how it works, but it does!) Then, when that''s done, you use the steam attachment to steam the jewelry the rest of the way clean. I absolutely LOVE mine!
