OK, so I need to look at some stones but I hate to have all that money out at one time. How do I go about this? HELP :?:

Are you located near NYC, Chicago, or LA?

It depends.
If there are certain cuts you can find locally but also want to compare it to, say, an ACA which only come from Whiteflash in Texas, buy and ACA and carry it around to the jewelry stores to put it next to the other cuts you are considering.
Then if you don't like the ACA best, return it for a full refund (less shipping) within the return period.

I did this.
It's the best way to compare cuts - side by side in person.
Photography and lighting variations make it impossible otherwise.

I live in Mississippi. OECs coming from NYC and CA.

Buy both, compare, return one, or both.
You must tie up your money (or hold a credit card or HELOC balance) for a couple weeks.

OR, perhaps both sellers would agree to ship them both (unpaid for) to a local appraiser.
You'd probably have to pay for three fees, but you would not be tying up the price of both diamonds.

It might be cheaper to buy the CA one and carry it on your cheapo flight to NY.

Ask if one vendor will ship their stone to the other vendor for side by side pics and videos (all at your expense of course).
Call both vendors, explain your problem and ask them for a solution.
