What's the best part of your job?

For me it is making people happy.

Today when I got finished my client was absolutely beside herself with joy.
She was giggling, and so grateful.
She said it's been years and years since she felt that way.

To me this is worth more than the pay, which ain't too shabby.
I love what I do so much that I'd do it for free, if I didn't have FCDs to buy.

Maybe this doesn't count for me since I'm not a nurse yet but I do have clinicals...

I really really love having the ability to comfort my pateints, make them smile, and I especially love when I get challenging patients to be compliant. I have realized how much the right attitude is important in this field. I realized that being relatable is equally important and having a good personality will get you me far with patients and my career.

I work in a bridal store. Helping a bride find her gown is sometimes like solving a riddle. It's tricky, usually fun, and I'm really good at it. It's also really neat to be a tiny part of someone's life during such an important time. I love watching mother's and daughter's bond and share memories.

The best part of my job is seeing the joy on a patient's face when I am able to help them. I love the patient population I work with- they are developmentally disabled and they are amazing. They are gentle souls who are so full of love and sweetness that I would do my job for free if I could afford to just like Kenny. It is a very challenging job but more rewarding than I could have ever imagined when I accepted the position 10 years ago.

Watching my students develop a love for writing and hearing them begin to refer to themselves as "authors." I finally worked up the nerve to move away from the "traditional" approach to teaching writing, and last year I implemented a writing workshop in my classroom and introduced my 4th graders to multigenre projects. It made me fall back in love with my profession!

The best decision I have ever made (besides saying "I do" to my husband!) was going back to school to work on an M.Ed. It's made all the difference in the world, not only in how I view my job, but I'm simply a much happier person, in general.

Those are very dear words. Probably TMI, but I felt like driving to the doctor's office and hugging the nurse after she called to tell me that my PAP was normal and I didn't have to come in til next year for my next checkup (this is after a year and a half of having to go in every 6 mos. due to previously abnormal paps).

The "Ooh!" look of comprehension on a student's face when I can help them to articulate a tricky concept, or communicate one to them in class. It really is priceless!

Close second is seeing my name in print. It's like a tiny little slice of immortality. In grad school, I realized that my ambition was to be Marian Roalfe Cox, who's a little-known Victorian scholar who focused on Cinderella. Not many people know about her, but when I was an MA student, I thought she was awesome for giving me exactly the information I needed. So, 100 years from now, I want to be somebody's obscure source. Or even not so obscure. I'm not picky!

The drug reps bringing food and candy. There is one patient at the office that I adore-don't see him often but he always makes me smile-reminds me of my Grampas. My other job 6 days a week my favorite part is the snuggles and kisses.

I love that I work with sick and elderly people who people toss away in our society. Im proud of myself whenever I tell people I work in a nursing home and hear them respond, "ewww. I could never do that! They smell and are so sad! Isn't it depressing??"
what's depressing is that people are so disrepecful of our elderly.

I like that I get to make the end of life just as important as the beginning. I provide an ear and a shoulder for peole making the hardest decisions of their lives.
