What kind of food did you feed them?

probably Purina?

Purina you think? Let''s see if he confirms.

Vets do not receive that much training on dog nutrition so they are not the best people to ask about foods etc... Some have better training than others. Same goes for medical doctors. They know biology and physiological systems but only get one rotation in nutrition, if even that...

Purina Dog chow.

over 47 years we had 3 dogs.
duke - dachshund mix - 18 years.
spike - terrier mix - 15 years <--- a few years spike and duke lived together.
Tiger - malumute mix - 17 years

My dad (a retired vet) advised that the best food was one they would eat. My dogs have thrived on Pedigree and Purina ONE. My 11 year old mini schnauzer prefers Pedigree and is in perfect health.

Our mastif (lived to 16 years) and our golden (now 8 years) are on pedigree. It's not the best brand.

My two boxers are on chicken soup for the dog lover's soul. I do put some canned salmon or mackeral and mix into it sometimes for extra treat. They also get a bully stick/dried sweet potato occasionally. No raw hide...BAD!
