Say you were trying to choose between a 1.9ct diamond and a 2ct diamond... All other factors being equal (cut, clarity, color, etc.), the 1.9 faces up .8mm larger and is 3k cheaper. Both stones are in your budget, but the 2ct is pushing it a little. Would you go for the greater mm spread or the 2ct weight marker?

Please share your thoughts...

Thanks! :wavey:

Spread of course. Why pay more for a stone that faces up smaller? ;)) It is also close enough to the 2 ct mark for you to introduce it as a 2 ct diamond too.

spread. I have a 2.04 that faces up like a 2.15 carat. But I've also had people ask me if it's 3 carats.

Good light performance is my priority, and that will dictate the spread for a carat weight.

Assuming equivalent cut quality, the 1.9, hands down! The "number" doesn't matter that much to me. The 3k, on the other hand? That right there is a really nice setting.

Agreed!! Spread wins!! I have a 2.43 that faces up like a 2.5-2.6 stone.

I'd go for spread too and save the money for something else.

DK :))

Aw, this is an easy one for me…spread!

What a landslide so far! Thank you, everyone! You have expressed my thoughts on the matter exactly 8)
