I recently became very interested in diamonds upon finding a jewelry box full of my grandmothers antique jewelry.....mostly I am interested in the value of diamonds, how to look at them, what makes certain ones better than others and so forth.

So, I am trying to meet alot of people in the diamond industry because I have so many questions about grading, certification, appraisal etc. I am not a diamond retailer nor do I have any experience with anything in this industry. Is there anyone out there willing to talk to me about it? I want to meet different gemologists or appraisers to hire to look at this jewelry so that I can learn and get an idea about value and whatnot.

Can you guys help? Id appreciate if some of you could send me your emails if you are interested or send recommendations to me....

Welcome!

You can use the appraiser's list SC posted, see if an appraiser could combine the appraisal session to include you so you can watch and ask questions.

If you want to pursue this further you could consider doing the GIA Graduate Gemologist course, Pricescope's Coatimundi has completed this course and more are undertaking it.

As for email addresses we are unable to post them on the open forums as this is against forum policy, although you can find some contact details of the professionals in their post signatures.

Also there is a wealth of info on anything diamond related in the archives, you can access this by using the search tool above right. To the upper left of that in the drop down menu under Knowledge you will see advanced tutorial which you can also access here - this is a great introduction to the " 4 C's" etc. And of course if there is anything else you want to know you only have to ask.

Once again welcome and I hope you enjoy it here!

Oh thank you so much for the suggestions, I think the online appraisal directory is a great tool and I am using it.

And thanks for the warm welcome !!
