What's it truly worth? 3.01 ct round cut.

Just wanted to ask this forum their thoughts re true value of a particular stone. Searching around for a comparable with same GIA stats gives such a wide range in prices that it's a bit hard to determine if the asking price for it is too high or too low or even accurate. Below is the GIA report, minus the report number. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's a deep stone at 63.9% so it faces up smaller than an ideal cut 3ct, which should have a diameter of 9.2-9.3mm. You should look for depth of 62.3 max.

The pricescope search is makes it a little difficult to hunt for VG cuts but 3.01-3.05/H/SI2/NoF/GIA with VG symmetry and pollish, which kicks out the xxx's although not for the right reason, asking prices range from about $30k-$34k. The difference has to do with the details of the stones as well as the details of the seller. What details? Things like 'eye clean' SI2's trade for more than ones with eye visible inclusions. What exactly misses from X to VG is important.

What difference does the dealer make?

If you're buying from a local store it'll usually cost more than a discount internet house.
Some jewelers, especially designers, can get a premium.
Some can't. Think 'Hey buddy, wanna buy a diamond?'
Financing and similar add on services usually drive up the price.

If you're the seller, you'll usually get less. How much less depends on how good you are at selling things.

So what do you mean by 'truly worth'? To whom, when and under what circumstances.

It's hard to say what's it worth as Neil pointed out. Pricing at retail is often opague and dependent on many variables.

Just for comparison purposes, here's a 3.05 H/SI2 listed by a PS vendor for 38K. It's a shallower stone so faces up bigger but scores about the same on HCA. Inclusions may or may not be visually similar to the one you posted.

Question you want to know what is worthl I would prefer a well cut smaller stone than one that is large with a very good cut. So for me there is no $$$
