Just thinking I still have a stone to set and still not happy with 1 I have set already. Leaving left over diamonds .....and white gold/ platinum settings..of little or not value.

All the cost of labour over the years, well that''s the stuff I don''t want to talk about!

So....labour aside.

1. 4 x .10pters
2. Numerous Odd Shaped Baguettes

I think there is more stuff, gotta pull it all out.

Pictures welcome.

I was fortunate (unfortunate, maybe

) enough to get sucked into PS early in my earning career, so I've been jonesing for the good stuff from the beginning - haven't had time to acquire terribly much junk. My most costly saga is definitely that of my engagement ring - one wg stock WF trellis still sitting empty, and one plat. custom setting they took for scrap.

I have a few lower-priced "learning gems" - opaque sapphire danglies I paid far too much for, overly dark garnets, washed out amethysts - nothing spectacularly painful though.

A cra**y .75 RB that my X gave me. What do you do with an ugly stone (bad cut, visible inclusions)? I''m thinking its not
worth spending any money on to have reset. I could send it to BGD. He could probably whittle it down to a beautiful

.

A couple of old RHRs that are out of style. The stones in them are small. Not sure what to do with them.

This isnt in my grave yard but I do have a gorgeous BGD .46 J/SI1 that I''m trying to figure out what to do with.

I''m liking the BGD inner milgrain only bezels at the moment. How about one of those as a pendant on a 16" chain!

Hey, now - if I condemn that drawer as a graveyard, that means I''ll have to resort to resurrection if I want to repurpose any of its contents! I prefer to think of it as a rest home.

The things I have that live there are mostly gifts from exes. One of these days, I want to sell them all and put the proceeds towards something pretty, but I never really seem to get around to it. Selling jewelry right now seems like idiocy, given the economy ... so, down at the back of the drawer stay the gold locket and the winged heart and the tourmaline necklace.

I also have a few things that my folks had custom-made for me that I appreciate for their sentimental value, but, my, are they ugly! The one that pops immediately to mind is a ring that features a gorgeous fat triangular indictolite of seven or eight carats, surrounded by paraibas and crowned with an alexandrite. Great stones, but together ... ugh! It looks like the cocktail ring to end all cocktail rings. Perhaps one of these days I''ll have it transformed into a pendant.

Ooo, I like this idea! And, hey, Brian being the genius that he is, perhaps he''ll see some potential in the stone?

Agreed!

Looks like I''m not the only one coveting those milgrains.
