Just saw the video in the morning, I am curious about the cutting style of the cushion on the left. Can anyone post an image of its cutting style? http://vimeo.com/32217580
This clip was made by my nephew Matt for a client he had called these in for specifically. Once the client has made his decision and if he doesn't mind we'll publish the data publicly.
Also, the patterning you see in our video setup isn't solely the result of a facet structure but of the combined elements of how that particular facet structure works in conjunction with it's geometry (proportions & symmetry) to grab and reflect light. The dynamic of brilliance & contrast or what GIA calls patterned scintillation. If you check out my clip on "A Consumer's Guide to Purchasing a Cushion Cut Diamond" you'll see how diamonds with similar facet structures can give totally different dynamics when it comes to the optics.
In brief, a photograph alone does not effectively show the patterning you are seeing in the clip.
