I am writing to ask what I should do! My Tiifany Etoile e-ring was purchased from a 3rd party. I was supplied with the original valuation papers (dated less than 1 year ago), and the diamond certificate. I love my ring, always wanted an Etoile and know I''d never want anything else, even if lost. Tiffany told me on 2 separate occassions that my valuation papers are good for 1 year past the date, but said I may still need to get an appraisal depending on what insurance company I go with. I kept pushing for them to do the valuation (at whatever cost), but they said I''d have to go to an appraiser. Seems funny just because so many people here have purchased from Signed Pieces and they never seemed to have issues getting new valuation papers from Tiffany. Does it not matter that my name is not on the current "valid for a year" valuation papers when it comes to my insurance company? Can I just black-out the name on there?
OK, all of that said, I am trying to decide between CHUBB and Jeweler''s Mutual. Looks like I can do all the Jeweler''s Mutual stuff online, which is a nice plus, but really, what are the differences? I just want to be able to replace my Etoile with another Etoile with same/similar specs. Is the only difference between CHUBB and JM the cash-out versus replacement with "like kind"? In that case, is it best to just go with JM since I love my ring? Yes, I know I''ll probably suffer from DSS and miss out on a chance to upgrade if my ring is ever lost (since CHUBB pays out). LOL. ANy benefits to one over the other? Do I have to go for check-ups and/or re-appraisals every so often for these companies. What else is required from these companies? HELP!
Thank you in advance! Sorry for all of the questions! I just don''t know what to do!
