After what feels like a HUNDRED hours of reading and research, I am finally down to three finalists! So far, I only have IdealScope & ASET for one of them so here are the details of the current frontrunner:

Option #1:

2.01 carat RB I VS2 HCA = XXXV 0.8
I've been assured that it is "1000%" eye clean from 10" and "quite bright for an I" but "with a slight warmth" I'm concerned that the gf might not appreciate the "warmth" so much, hence I'm considering the two other stones that I'll hopefully post up soon.

GIA Cert:

ASET:

IdealScope Pics:

My Pricescope Wire Price = $19,800

So far, the experience and communication with Yekutiel of IDJ has been great, and as soon as he gets back to me with details of the other two finalists, I'll post those up for opinions as well.

One of them is slightly larger with "better" color and clarity, but strong blue (which I might like if it's anything like Gavin's line) for about $23k, and the other is nearly identical to this one, but H color for about $21k.

I'll be setting this in a Vatche pave Swan in 18k white gold: http://www.dvatche.com/index.php?page=collection&catID=2,15&startRow=30&id=62

Please share your thoughts!

It looks beautiful! I wouldn't be so concerned with the I color in a RB especially one as bright as this appears to be. Of course it will depend on how color sensitive your gf is, but unless you are comparing the stones upside down side by side, it's very difficult to tell an H from an I. I think my decision would be based on how eye clean the H was, if it's also a VS2 then it's very likely fine. You could always ask Yuketiel to critically evaluate the H and the I side by side and offer his opinion. If the I is a borderline H and the H is a borderline I then it's probably not worth the extra money kwim unless of course it's only a matter of a few hundred dollars and it's truly important to you.
