If price and cut (both eye clean) were exactly the same, which would you chose:

1. 1.3 F VS2 round
2. 1.55 I SI2 round

I would personally pick the F VS2 assuming they are the same price and I''m not a part-time college student.

Thanks for the reply. I''m really torn but I''m leaning that way.

Not enough information, but if well cut, then I would go for size (I is still near colorless) and if it is IDEAL or even super IDEAL...then definitely I gets my vote... assuming it is eyeclean.

Both super ideal cut.

Both super ideal cut.

Given that the cut is excellent, I''d definitely choose the I SI2! But I''m not terribly color sensitive, and I''m okay with some inclusions as long as they''re not black and visible.

I have a super ideal K and its a 1.21 carat on a size 4 finger,,, and I''m starting to feel my diamond is getting small...lol in the real world its one of the largest around my social circle.. but I long for a slightly larger stone... hopefully this isn''t you, but if you truly want an F then go for it... is the price a jump as well? personally just my humble opinion, I would not pay a premium of a VS2 if I can get away with an SI2 (lesser premium) on both color and clarity and you get a larger stone, but the color is the factor here I''m guessing for you?

Yes, price is exactly the same but color and clarity are the big differences (and size).

...then i say go BIG

I''m not too color sensitive, and your not likely to put a ring next to another unmounted diamond daily... but the difference is noticeable in size... hmmmmm let me dig around and find a size table chart so you can see..

ok,, here is some visual... but check the measurments... ETA : created by Kcoursolle

Nice chart!

Also, when using the Price Stats at the top of this page, the VS2 is actually a better deal for the price.

In a 1 1/2 ct stone, you may be able to see some color in the I as well as inclusions in an SI2.

Wny not go for an ideal cut G or H VS2, SI1?
You'll be able to get closer to a 1.50 and have it face up very white as well as have a better chance of it being eye clean.

Can I vote for the largest H SI1 you can find?

Now we''re changing to a choice not listed!!!

lol... can we help you find some stones? price range?
ETA: carat weight?

I couldn''t find any H SI 1.50 in the same cut. G SI and H VS2 were A LOT more $$$$$ than the first two stones.

oh I forgot to mention that briangavindiamonds.com gave me a couple of quotes for H stones as well in the 1.50 ish range.. I think very reasonable, it''s not listed, but you can give them a call in the morning. and if it works for you,,, then I think you will have a winner

If you don''t mind saying what your price range is, we may be able to help you find something.

Well, this may sound silly, but I don''t know the price. I''m working with hubby and he holds the price cards right now. So we just have to vote on the two choices we have. It sounds like some would like something in between there though (this is fun, isn''t it?)

have you seen these diamonds?

No, only specs. I guess that would be a good idea - just see them both.

I would think so, as who knows that F may call to you or the I and you may not even notice the inclusion, its worth a chance to pick the one, especially if you''re wavering between the two and these are the only two that will do?..

Ditto (key is that if they are both super well cut I would go with lower color, bigger stone)
